Problem Statement

• We have three hostels in our campus, which consist of two boy’s hostel and one girl’s
hostel.
For smooth conduction of the operations in hostel we have identified following
problems:

• Managing the student data room wise and attendance procedure in morning as
well as evening.

• Management of grievances of the students regarding maintenance/cleanliness and


prompt action to rectify them.

• Grant of permissions for various activities outside the campus along with justified
documents, to the students of hostel.

• To minimize wastage of food by timely intimation of the number of students taking


the meal at a time.

• Generation of various reports as required.

An Android App cum web based system may be developed which deals with the
problems.
Idea/Solution

Our idea is to create an app through which the students and the
college administration can interact with each other in an effective
manner addressing their problems so that a effective solution can
be taken as soon as possible.

Through the app the students will be able to address their


complaints , grievances, food reviews , mess food requirement , marking
their attendance etc.

The app will provide the administration about the attendances,


Improper timings , food quality reviews ,grievances etc of the students.

The app will provide a pre filled application form to the students
which can be digitally signed by the teachers to permit them.
Objectives

We have created an app named “name ” which will serve as a


mediator between the students, canteen , wardens, and the other
higher authorities of the college .

“Name” is created to simplify the process in between the hostel and


the authorities and ensure that a delay free communication is
established between the two .

“Name” is focused on the thinking that there is a need of someone


who can act as a medium between the students and the college
administration in a fast and effective manner so that the decisions
can be taken immediately.
Objective Of The Project

The main objective of our project are :-

1. To show general details of each student like name, parent’s name, year of
study etc room wise .

2. Details including time table.

3. To manage attendance of students by taking morning ,evening or night


attendance of students through the app .

4. To give the feedback of mess food.

5. Student’s will be able to mark their food requirement and can neglect today’s
food to reduce the wastage .

6. To give the students a pre filled application where they can just put their
name and which can be digitally signed by the committee .
Users Of The Project

• STUDENTS :- The students are the major users


as the students will use the app
for following :

1. To know about their hostel, college fees status.

2. Marking hostel attendance.

3. Any complaints regarding hostel irregularities ,any fight, bullying by


seniors , room infrastructure irregularities etc.

4. Marking their food requirement of food in canteen . If food not


required then the student can tell the canteen thereby reducing the
wastage.
Users Of The Project

• HOD/CC’s :- The supreme authorities will be using the app for


the following tasks :

1. The authorities will be able to track the student’s attendance and


can identify and give notices to students who are not in college
hostel at proper time.

2. The authorities can sign a pre filled form for an application regarding
leaves, medical etc of students digitally thereby reducing the time
taken in the process .

3. The authorities can supervise the complaints registered by the


students and can focus on them.

4. The authorities can also keep a check on the hostel/mess food by


tracking the combined reviews of the students on food.
Users Of The Project

• Canteen Staff :- The canteen staff will be using the app for the
for the following :

1. Chef’s will be able to know the total no of students who want


food .

2. Chef’s will know how much quantity of dal, salad, wheat flour
etc is required based on an average calculation by app itself.

3. Chef’s will know the feedback of students regarding the food


thereby they can improve the taste accordingly.
Users Of The Project
Warden :- warden sir/madam will be using the
app for the following :

1. They can track the students with their respective room number as it
is hard to remember each student’s name.

2. They can make sure that every student is present in the hostel in
proper time by tracking the attendance.

3. They can also issue warnings to the student who are found
defaulters.

4. They can track which students are going out , going in .

5. They can sign a pre filled application with digital signature to


students for hostel leave applications.

Tools And Techniques

We have used the following tools and techniques while building


our project :-

• Android Studio as a compiler enviroment.

• Coding language as Java(core).

• Designing is done through Xml .

• Database is maintained through My Sql .

• Microsoft Power Point to create ppt.

1. Team Work :-
We learnt how to work in a team through this project. We are able to divide our work
between our team member effectively and were able to make good decisions based
on opinions from different members of the team.

2. Increasing Productivity :-
We are able to increase our productivity by dividing our work in the team members so
that our productivity can increase greatly.

3. Ability to make Constructive Decisions :-


We learnt how we can make strong decisions by listening through the interest of each
member and then making the decisions which are most suitable or have the most
favourable comments to our project.

We are able to apply Java(core) language for building our dynamic application and
.Xml language to design static layouts of our application.

5. Creation/Management of Databases :-
We used “firebase“ to manage the database of the students, their profile, their
reviews profiles of the teachers, pre filled applications etc .

6. Compiler Environment (Android Studio) :-


We have learnt using a compiler environment named Android Studio where we can
put both our java source files as well .xml design layouts.
We also learnt to use emulator to showcase our current source code so that we are
sure that there is no error produced.
Conclusion

“name “ is created to improve the communication process between


the students and the authorities.

The app “name” will give an environment where the students can
interact with the college administration for all different aspects at
one place which in turn will ensure flexibilty and simplicity for the
whole process.

Through the app the problems can be addressed at the moment


and the decisions can be implemented fastly thereby the mutual
increasing the mutual relationship of the college administation with
the students
