UC Irvine Health and UC San Diego Health paired up to implement new systems into
the EHR/EMR that allows people to choose from a vendor, optimize the
infrastructure, design, and workflows, and training telemedicine users. This process
took a good 17 months and reduced the price by 30%. The new process consists of
finding you vendor, which uses a take a data-first approach. Then the system itself
identifies the IT it needs in order for the EHR implementation to work. Then the last
step is to figure out a plan that fits your needs.

Valhalla schools in New York have decided to add camera systems into their buses.
The company, Safety Vision, which manufactures video camera surveillance such as
video recorders, network video cameras, and so much more video related products
that is used for telemarketing. The inputting of this system includes a gps which
shows the route the bus took, the speed of the bus, usage of the turn signal and how
much time they spend at a stop. This system makes the process of finding bully easier
and it saved a bus driver from losing his job.
Telemedicine

The MOH (health ministry) have created the ‘sandbox’, a Licensing Experimentation
and Adaptation Programme. The MOH plans to release telemedicine as a licensed
healthcare service upon the sandbox completion. The idea behind this is to give
patients early access, be able to contact the doctors at home, arrange for medication
to arrive at their door, anything to skip the line at the doctors office.
Video Calling

Facebook announced that Instagram will come out with video chat. Zuckerberg is
surprised how the simplest things can go really far and hopes that its more focused
on things that we are interested in. Instagram will also get an update where the
poster can choose a feature which will get rid of bullying in the comment section

Recently, 2 American cities have discovered that their Information Systems was
hacked. Atlanta, the first known city to be attacked, forcing people in the
government to write everything out. Police reports to judge courts. The 911 dispatch
system had to be shut down for 17 hours and up. Survey shows that 44% of the
takers have experienced cyber attacks and that number is increasing

Google has decided to use their Advanced Protection Program on IOS apps, which was
only exclusive to google apps. This program was originally used to give extra
protection for reporters, politicians, CI’s, etc. These features are designed to
protect outer attack, phishing attacks, and unauthorized logins/access

According to Forbes, 5G allows fixed and improved wireless connections to your home,
telemedicine, VR, video inspection, and smart cities. This ‘race’ for 5G is global with
China leading, but it's too early in for a victor to be called. Verizon paired up with
Samsung for its 5G commercial, and because of this, Samsung provided its remote
radio heads and baseband units. Samsung is also ahead in the race as its products are
used all over China, Korea, and Japan

T-Mobile and Sprint have decided to merge in order to bring 5G to America. Due to
this tech rivalry with China, U.S President Donald Trump waits for the approval of the
5G network. Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said that they will start on the network plan
as they saw that the introduction and usage of 4G added millions of jobs and billions
of dollars in the US GDP. People don't know what will happen with 5G coming, but
people say that it will help popularize autonomous cars, VR, and other tech

live-independent-lives/article/519894

A new sensor has been made especially for independent-living old people to provide
more care and reduce risks. The aim is to lower healthcare cost and give elderly
people the option to live more independently. In order for this to work, open and
closed sensors are put together with motion sensors that will detect falls and harmful
changes to environmental conditions. This will use ultra low power technology and
batteries that last up to 10 years.
Confidentiality & Security

destructing-messages-email-snoozing-offline-mode-and-more/

When using telemedicine, i'm pretty sure everyone wants confidentiality and security.
I'm pretty sure everyone wants it everywhere, especially their email. After the
security leaks with facebook, google has decided to update and add more to their
emailing system. They have added the option to snooze emails, meaning you go to a
specific email, press snooze and set a time of how long. It also come with a nudging
feature which sends it back to you if it's important. They also have the option which
the user can use to add a ‘self-destruct’ timer. The sender set an amount of time the
user can read it and other things are included. Not only that, they've added a second-
factor authentication option which requires the recipient to put a password in which is
sent by text. In order to activate it, go to settings and click on ‘try the new google’.
