How effective is the combination

of your main products and


ancillary texts?

Our Three Products
Collectively as a group we have been able to create three separate products that work
significantly well as a marketing product. Although having similar elements to another there is
also an individual distinction between the trailer,magazine cover and film poster advertising our
film “Nadarajah” meaning Hindu God of dance.

Within our three packages we aimed to show different aspects of Amirah ,our main character,
acted and modeled by Sophia Anton Selvaratnam, within our magazine cover we shot a close
up of Amirah however with Amirah placed to an angled but still making direct eye contact with
the camera conveying the rebellious nature within her - the adventurous and courageous
nature of Amirah spinning around in her beautiful Sri Lankan attire with the denim jacket
showing the clash of both the eastern and western world clashing together. By including these
aspects and nature within our packages we have hopefully been successful to orchestra the
different aspects of Amirah within our film.This breaks the typication of a British Asian trying to
pursue something much more than academica.
Conventional use of Text and Typography
For our trailer, we decided that we had to have a font that was easily to emulate
an foreign culture and through “Dafonts” we were able to find a font that had a
foreign feel but also woman with Teen Drama and Social Realism. The simple and
minimalist style was easy to duplicate therefore creating within our different
packages.

Films such as Bend it like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice Emulate the same , by
using the same font throughout and replicating throughout all there procuts
conveying an identity.
Our use of text and typography
We have effectively linked all three of our three products by using our main font
“Arabic Script” from “Dafonts” Additionally, the bold font has been consistently
been used from the trailer to the magazine to the poster. Reinforcing the familiarity
among the audience resulting in visible recognition.

Conventions of Marketing Image
A marketing image we use to combine our marking products together to promote “Nadarajah” Bt presenting our main
character viia the marketing image we were able to introduce to the audience the main protagonist within the film.W
presented a Amirah(the protagonist) to be rebellious and devious as well as adventurous

Both film magazine and posters the image focuses on the main character whilst the trailer shows
more characters however contains consist focus on Amirah.The fouc on main character is
essential.This is highlighted through “Bend it like Beckham” using Parminder Nagra and Aniita as
Chandeep Uppal from “Anita and Me” (shown above) this replicates our the similarity between our
packages that we created.
Our Marketing Image
With our focu on Amirah we have been able
to demonstrate to aspects of hernus
showing her rebellious nature and her
reason behind her action.This is represented
through the close up headshot of her facial
expression of her face conveying her sharp
direct eye contact with the camera. Whilst
on the other hand the long shot of Amira in
the midst of spinning conveying her career
free nature but also conveying her in her
own world demonstrated through the fact
that her eyes are shut.These two packages
convey two different characteristics of
Amirah.
Our use of colour scheme
In our trailer and poster we had used very bright and vibrant colours through the
use of costume and locations to convey to the audience that it is a foreign film but
also the fact that it derives from an Asian background. To conform to Social
Realist and Teen drama films we used local locations which again was associated
with the Sri Lankan culture fo. For example Tooting Market which is substantially a
Asian oriented community. By creating bright colour such as orange through
caption cards reuters the Sri Lankan theme presented throughout the trailer. From
doing this we were able to careate a marking image which effectively commented
each other.
