Costume and Props
Bend it Like Beckham
Although the character of Jess is a British born Punjabi in which she conforms to the eastern world of
fashion however it is evident that she still seen to wear traditional attire to convey her culture.

We decided to adhere to this by making our protagonist wear both western and eastern clothing for
example in terms of eastern culture she is seen wearing a beautiful red brocade skirt and gold
embellished blouse. In terms of westen clothing , Amirah is seen to be wearing jeans and trailers. This
instantly adheres to the character.

Monsoon Wedding

In order to portray a realistic trailer, props play an essential part. However the repetitive
nature of using flowers demonstrating the romanting nature but also the recurrent
nature the prop demonstrates the fact that these flowers give a sense of happiness to
the other personas they are used at important sages.
We repreted used props commonly associated with the setting such as school we used
props such as exercise book, test paper and a blazer when Amirah was practising her
hand movement whilst in lessons to gain a greater sense of realism
Title Transition in Trailers - Bride and Prejudice
The transitions within a trailer is essential as it creates more tension and pressure
and allows a smooth transition between scenes.

Within Bride and Prejudice, we replicated the transition by using non diegetic
sounds such as sound of gongs to demonstrates the change in scene as well as
heavily influenced indian music. By doing so we were able to similarly replicate the
jovial mood that was created in Bride and Prejudice.
Lighting
Lighting : Bride and Prejudice

Within the editing process, it was evident that editors have

increased the lighting in of the video to enforce the ther ornate ,
vibrant colourful nature of the indian culture. Through the increased
use of lighting highlights Darcy and Lalita’s relationship blossoming
and the use of the s lighting further highlights the romantic nature.

In a similar way we created used lighting to convey the use the

bright and colourful nature to present the Sri Lankan culture. This is
illuminated when Amirah was dancing to ather talent show the use
of her brightly coloured brocade skirt and her gold embellished
blouse and her shiny bangles illuminated the screen portraying the
ciulture.
Theme In the similar way, we wanted to demonstrate
the intergenerational conflict so we used a
high angle shot to demonstrate there
With our trailer there are several themes present frustration and anger towards Amirah when
such as intergenerational conflict they find out that they she wants to pursue

pressured into becoming accountant however Jess
wanted to become a football which was not seen
appropriate to her parents.
