ARTEMIS

Of
GREEK MyTHoLOGHY
ARTEMIS
(Roman name : Diana)
 The daughter of Zeus and
Titaness Leto
 Goddess of The Moon and Hunt
 She also represented the
female side of childbirth,
chastity and a virgin huntress
 Her twin brother is the sun god
Apollo. Artemis was born a day
before Apollo. She then served
as a guardian to him, which
provided a context for her
desire to protect and nurture.
In a more modern myth,
Artemis takes pity on a young
hunter who is cursed by Apollo
to live only by the light of the
moon and gave him
supernatural hunting powers in
exchange for lifelong devotion
to her alone. This is said to
have been the origination of the
first vampire.
 Artemis acted out in anger
whenever her wishes were
disobeyed, especially if anyone
transgressed against the
animals that were sacred to her.
 Artemis spent most of her time
roaming the forests with her
nymphs. She was described as
both hunting animals and
protecting them.
When one of her nymphs was
seduced by Zeus, Artemis
transformed her into a bear and
then killed her.
 Apollo and Artemis teamed up to
kill the children of Niobe. Niobe
bragged that she had birthed
more children than Leto. Then
Apollo and Artemis hunted her
children and killed them
