Single Phase AC circuits

 Introduction
• Applied voltage and resulting current have
same frequency
• For resistive circuit, voltage and current have
no phase difference
• For inductive and capacitive circuit, voltage
and current have non-zero phase difference
Resistance only circuit
Power in pure resistive circuit
 Pure Inductive polyphase circuit
• When current passes through a conductor,
magnetic field is generated.
• When current changes, the magnetic flux also
changes
• This change in flux induces e.m.f (voltage)

• This is self-inducted or back e.m.f
