Outline of the article
 Introduction

• The women, family and community development

minister is asking the police to classify cases of
baby dumping as murder or as attempted murder .
• Clearly, this directive is intent on punishing those
who risk the lives of newborns.
• Its commendable that the government is trying to
protect innocent children.
• The problem of abandoned babies is complex and
multi-dimensional.
 Content

• Alternatives are available for women who find

themselves pregnant and are unable or unwilling to
look after their babies.
• There are institutions run by the Welfare
Department that can take care of the babies, private
shelters for unwed mothers and anonimously.
• We should not condemn the frightened young
mothers as unnatural women who abandon babies.
• Sometimes a baby is conceived through rape or
incest, or the mothers may be suffering from post-
natal depression or mental illness.
• Unlike the fathers who can go on their merry
ways.
• Most of the times, they just can’t take their
unwanted babies home, and abandon them
in places where they are likely to be found
and well looked after by the finders.
 Conclusion

• This calls for a strengthening of the “welfare”

approach and directing more resources into social
services and support programmes , as well as
more funds to raise community awareness.
How does the writer start the article ?

I. The writer start the article with opinion by

Writers argument in this article
 There are another way to solve the baby dumping

unwilling to look after their babies. There are

can be left safely and anonymously.

 Mothers unwed is suffering from father. eg. :

sometimes a baby is conceived through rape or
incest or the mother maybe suffering from post-
natal depression or mental illness. Unlike the father
who can go on their merry ways. Unwed mother
have already paid a heavy social price.

How does the article conclude ?
 The writer said that there are several ways to protect unwed
mother and their babies .
 We’re disagree with this opinion, this is because when the
government or any non-government run an institution like
Welfare Department, it seems that the government promote the
adultery action by unwed person while, all religions ban this
adultery action.
 This action cause negative effect such as HIV, AIDS and especially
baby dumping.
 So, if our country want to reduce the baby dumping , the
government should to reduce adultery action first which is
practiced by the most teenager such as organize awareness
program about this social problem.
Summary (based on our opinion)
 We, group 5 are disagree with this article because based on our
opinion, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.
 This article is disscuss about the cure not the prevention.
 If we know why this problem happens, then we’ll be in a better
position to take the appropriate measures to overcome the problem.
 Parents should spend time with their children and be aware of their
physical state of development and not leave the responsibility to their
school.
 Children also should be taught from small.
 Datin Seri Rosmah as a wife of Prime Minister said, “with a happy
home and strong school environment, there was no reason for
children to seek joy outside, including taking drugs and looking for
boyfriends”.

talking males, and the male not to take advantage of
impressionable girls.
 In Malacca , Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam

as murder or attempted murder.
 He said, “they should be punished with dead”.
 We think that it was sinful to dump babies and advised
those who had done wrong to come forward and rectify
their mistake.
 Those who can’t take it anymore. It is better to get married.
Marriage is better than adultery and dumping babies.
