1966 – Mr. Premji took over the leadership of the Western
Indian Vegetable Product Company

1975 – The company later diversified into consumer goods

(FMCG) products. It dealt in products like bakery fats, ethnic
ingredient based toiletries, hair care soaps, baby toiletries.
 The Vegetable company then changed to WIPRO Products
Ltd.
 WIPRO Fluid Power business started manufacturing hydraulic
cylinders and truck tippers

1980 – WIPRO entered the IT field

It took advantage of the expulsion of IBM from the Indian
