of Construction in Ethiopia
Background
• Construction is an integral part of a country’s infrastructure and must
be taken carefully for the healthy growth of the economy
• Project delay is common internationally in construction industry.
• This study will examine the identified success factors and determine
which factors are more crucial in successful completion of a
construction project in Ethiopia
• The objective of this study is
• To identify the critical success factors for construction projects in Ethiopia
• To evaluate the identified critical success factors in order of their importance
• To evaluate the effect of identified critical success factors on the successful delivery of
projects in Ethiopia.
Significance of the Study
• The outcome of the study is to understand the success factors in
construction and improve the effectiveness of the construction
projects
Scope and Limitation
• Because of time and resource constraint data is going to be collected
from Addis Ababa region
Literature Review
• Lot of studies had been conducted by different researchers to determine
critical success factors in construction and a number of variables
influencing construction project success have been proposed.
• Previous literatures grouped critical success factors for construction under
the following five main categories,
• Human related factors
• project related factors,
• project procedure related factors,
• project management actions related factors and
• external environment related factors
• There is no evidence of such similar study has been carried out in Ethiopia.
Methodology
• This research will use a quantitative approach in particular a
descriptive survey research design to collect data
• The target population for the study will be construction professionals
in Addis Ababa and a random sampling technique is used
• The data is analyzed by using SPSS
Ethical Consideration
• The research will take ethical consideration to the best of its capacity
with respect to issues like plagiarism, participants’ data
confidentiality, etc.
Work Schedule and Budget
• The research will take approximately two months and is estimated to
cost Birr 2,834.00
