WHAT IS MALARIA ???
Malaria is an infectious
diseasecharacterized by cycles of chills,
fever, and sweating, caused by a protozoan
of the genusplasmodium in blood cells,
which is transmitted to humans by the bite
of an infected female
What Causes Malaria ?
WHAT IS THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF
MALARIA ???
First symptoms generally appear 10 - 14 after infection,
these include:
• High fever
• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Pale and yellowish skin
• Muscle pain
HOW TO TREATEMENT
• 1. Provision of oral medication for mild and
intravenous malaria if severe malaria

• 2. The antimalarial drug used is usually


chloroquine, but some patients can be resistant
to this drug so it is replaced with other
antimalarial drugs such as artesunate-
sulfadoxine, artesunate-amodiaquine and
artesunate-piperquine.
HOW TO PREVENTING MALARIA ???
• 1. Increasing awareness of malaria risk by
following counseling or seminars related to
malaria
• 2. Prevention of mosquito bites using
insecticide-treated, repellent, and mosquito
netting.
• 3. Maintain the surrounding environment to
avoid mosquito bites that cause malaria by
covering the bath or toilet, removing puddles
around, and burying garbage.

• Congenital : disease or medical condition is one that a person
has had from birth, but is not inherited

• Seizures :Seizures are symptoms of a brain problem. They


happen because of sudden, abnormal electrical activity in the
brain

• Vomitting :eject matter from the stomach through the mouth.

• Nausea : is an uneasiness of the stomach that often comes


before vomiting
• Syringes : spray especially for mosquito

• Intravenous : injection into vessel

• Mosquite Repellent : are substances designed to


discourage mosquitoes from landing on, climbing on or
biting skin.

• Respiratory distress : is a life-threatening condition where


the lungs can't provide the body's vital organs with
enough oxygen.
