a) listen and respond to the text correctly.
b) know the vocabulary: bullying, threaten and counsellor.
c) question and answer by filling in the blanks based on the scenario
given by the teacher.
d) give suggestions on how to solve the problem based on the situation
given.

Listen to the conversation between Sam and the school counsellor
Sam: Good morning, teacher.

Counsellor: Good morning. Come in. How can I help you?

Sam: I would like to report a bully.

Counsellor: Sit down, please. What is your name and which class are you from?

Sam: I am Sam Eugene from 6 Bestari

Counsellor: Are you being bullied or do you someone who is being bullied?
Adaptation version
Sam: Some boys from the neighbourhood bully me recently, teacher.

Counsellor: What did they do you?

Sam: They threatened me and ask for money. If I don’t give them money, they will continue
to bully me.

Counsellor: How often does this happen?

Sam: Every evening. They bully me while I waiting for my parents at the bus stop.

Counsellor: Don’t worry, Sam. I ‘ll look into the matter. May I have your parents’ contact
number?

Sam: You can call my father, Mr Brian at 012-1478529


Adaptation version
Counsellor: Okay, Sam. I’m proud of you for stepping up. You ‘re a brave boy.

Sam: Thank you, teacher.

Counsellor: You’re welcome.

Technique used
1) Deletion
-to suit the learning objectives, the purpose is not to write an essay.
2) Modification
-material is changed so the learning takes place.
-why: writing a long essay is not an objective
-another way to expose them to create the awareness about this issue.
3)Simplification
-rewriting whole section
--simpler language, sentences to suit the learner’s context.
