of matter on the Nano scale (10-9m), it deals with the
scientific study of objects with sizes in the 1–100 nm
range in at least one dimension

control of matter on the nanometer length scale

The prefix ‘nano’ is derived from the Greek word “nanos”

(or Latin “nanus”), meaning “Dwarf”. One nanometre
(nm) is equal to one-billionth of a metre, 10–9 m. A
human hair is approximately 80,000nm wide, a red
blood cell approximately 7000nm wide and a sheet of
paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick. Nanometer
objects are too small to be seen with naked eye.
