1 Background

 The Taliban word in Arabic means "two students",

whereas in Persian, "Talib" means "religious learner"
or those who study religion in traditional and non-
formal education. Thus, the Taliban here is not the
same as the students who gained knowledge in
the modern universities.
Based on the above background, there are some
limitation of the problems:

 How does the author imply the Afghanistan

 What does the impact of Taliban policy toward
Afghanistan social life in the novel A Thousand
Splendid Suns?
1.3 Scope of the Study

 In this paper of the research, the researcher would

like to focus on the analysis of the social situation
and the impact of the Taliban policy toward the
Afghanistan Social’s life based on the statements
of the problem.
1.4 Objective of the Study

 To describe a social situation of the reality

in Afghanistan in the novel “A Thousand
Splendid Suns”
 To describing the impact of Taliban’s policy
toward Afghanistan life in the novel “A
Thousand Splendid Suns”
1.5 Significance of the Study

 Researcher hope that this research can provide

benefits for the personal and generally to the
community and students who want to know much
about the circumstances and social situations that
occurred in Afghanistan.
 1.6 Review of Related Literature

The Same Object

 The first research is Muhlis, with title “Social Conflicts using

Psychological Approach” in previous the researcher paper
describing conflict in the life of Mariam as the main
character. Previous research suggests several conflicts,
including conflicts with Mariam itself, Mariam with his mother,
Mariam with his father, with his father's family, Mariam with her
husband, and many other conflicts.
 The last one is Script from Setyaningsih (2010) Sanata Dharma
University Yogyakarta. The title of her thesis is “women’s
struggle against Gender Discrimination as seen through the
major character in Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid
Suns”. With the method of Sociol Culture History raised by
Rohrberger. The researcher showed that two main character
struggle against gender discrimination with their respective
characters.
The Same Focus

 The first thesis of research belong to Raisal from Khairun University

Faculty of Letters and Culture (2016). In his script which has a title
“Afghanistan Under The Theocracy Of Taliban As Depicted In The
Novel A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini” by using the
Social-Cultural Approach. The researcher is aimed at explaining the
form of Taliban’s Theocracy toward the life of the Afghanistan
peoples. His study aims to explained the application of Islamic laws
by the Taliban that require every peoples in Afghanistan.
 The second one is belong to Kotta from Khairun University (2013), in
her script which has a title “Afghan Women in the Eyes of Talibanism
A Study on Khaled Hosseni's novel A Thousand Splendid Suns” by
using the Socio-Cultural Approach. The researcher is aimed at
explaining and analyzing the novel in the tradition of the aspects
and rules that affects the Afghan government and restrict women's
rights. Talking about the traditions and rules that have relevance to
the public conditions, the researchers tried to insert an explanation
of the background conditions of the community with traditions and
the current administration.
