Pendahuluan
 Bencana dapat diakibatkan baik oleh alam maupun manusia.Kondisi alam memegang peran penting
akan timbulnya suatu bencana, termasuk Indonesia .

 Berbagai kejadian yang memakan banyak korban jiwa, tertama sejak kejadian BOM bali I membuat
kegiatan identifikasi korban bencana masal (Disester victim identification) menjadi kegiatan yang
penting dan dilaksanakan hampir pada setiap kejadian yang menimbulka korban jiwa dalam jumlah
yang banyak.

 Tujuan utama pemeriksaan identifikasi pada kasus bencana massal adalah untuk mengenali korban

 Mengidentifikasi  merawat  mendoakan  menyerahkan kepada keluarganya.

Proses DVI meliputi 5 fase yang pada setiap fase memiliki keterkaitan antara satu
dengan yang lain. Proses DVI menggunakan bermacam-macam metode dan teknik.

dengan prinsip identifikasi adalah membandingkan data antemortem dan

postmortem.

 Setiap bencana massal yang
menimbulkan banyak korban jiwa, baik akibat
ataupun, memiliki spesifikasi tertentu yang
berbeda antara kasus yang satu dengan yang
lain. Perbedaan ini menyebabkan tindakan
pemeriksaan identifikasi dengan skala prioritas
bahan yang akan diperiksa sesuai dengan
keadaan jenazah yang ditemukan. Kejadian
bencana massal tersebut akan menghasilkan
keadaan jenazah yang mungkin dapat intak,
separuh intak, membusuk, tepisah berfragmen-
fragmen, terbakar menjadi abu, separuh
terbakar, terkubur ataupun kombinasi dari
bermacam-macam keadaan

 Masalah akan timbul dengan berbagai variasi tingkat kesulitan dimana
tindakan termudah dan sederhana yaitu secara visual tidak lagi dapat digunakan.
Demikian juga pada jenazah yang mengalami pembusukan lanjut, pemeriksaan
identifikasi primer berdasarkan sidik jari akan sulit dilakukan, maka dapat digantikan
dengan pemeriksaan gigi geligi karena gigi bersifat lebih tahan lama terhadap proses
pembusukan. Namun keadaan gigi tersebut juga dipengaruhi faktor lingkungan
tempat Jenazah itu berada.

Fakta pengalaman di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa identifikasi korban

meninggal massal melalui gigigeligi mempunyai kontribusi yang tinggi dalam
menentukanidentitasseseorang.

Pada kasus Bom Bali I, korban yang teridentifikasi berdasarkan gigigeligi

mencapai 56%, pada kecelakaan lalu lintas bis terbakar di Situbondo mencapai 60%,
