The ”F” in F.O.I.L stands for First.
To factor a trinomial, we must first multiply the first 2
terms in each binomial together.
Menu
The “O” in F.O.I.L stands for Outer.
The second step is to multiply the 2 outer terms in each
binomial together.
Outer
( x+3) (x+4)
x * 4 = 4x
Menu
The ”I” in F.O.I.L stands for inner.
The third step is to multiply the inner terms in each
binomial together.
Inner
(x + 3) (x + 4)
3 * x = 3x

The “L” in F.O.I.L stands for last.
Next, multiple the last 2 terms in each binomial together
Last ( x+ 3) (x+4)
3 * 4 = 12

Finally, we will add all of terms together and simplify.
