Definition of ICT:
ICT comprises of information systems, and other
resources to collect data as input, or integrate with
other systems to process, retrieve, update, store and
disseminate information when required by managers
any time any where they need, with accuracy,
efficiency, and timely manner to make decisions.

 9.2 Role of ICT in Management and
Organizations
• Information systems are internal to organizations,
and play an integral role in, the process -- whether by
providing input, aiding product transformation, or
producing output. Best considered part of the process
itself.

• Organization: formal collections of people, process

and various resources established to accomplish a set
of goals.

• Management: the process of dealing with or 4

controlling things or people.

9.2.i.1 Government Administrative Characteristics and
Structure
• Most government organizations are classic examples
of vertical structure or pyramid. Vertical organizational
structures are characterized by few people at the top
and increasing numbers of people in middle
management and lower level positions. In other
words, a few people make policy and decisions, and
many people carry them out.
• Governments often lean toward them because they
create very defined job scopes and powers--each
person has a clear role to play. Vertical structure is the
classic bureaucracy and is epitomized and originated in

one of the oldest government functions: military
command.
