Grid
Overview
• Commissioned in June 2015
• Implemented an energy storage system on a rural 20 kV
network in the vicinity of two decentralized wind farms (6 and 12
MW) to help stabilize the high voltage swings of the MV
substation
Business Need
• MV substation at the end of the transmission line was seeing
high voltage swings
Storage in the “Smart grid” – Venteea, France
Solution
• Two ES Box RT units (1 MVA each) were installed, along
with 2 MW /1.3 MWh Li-ion batteries from SAFT
• Specific monitoring and control system
Benefits
• Storage will be used as an ancillary service (frequency
regulation, renewable smoothing, peak shifting, electricity
rate optimization, etc.) production unit for several market
players: generator, Distribution System Operator, and
Transmission System Operator
Frequency regulation – Venteea, France
Example : 2MW @ +/- 5 mHz
Overview
• Commissioned in January 2016
• Install energy storage system to two PV power plants (1MWp each)
to firm and shift the production of energy and make it dispatchable
Business Need
• Integrate energy produced into the Island Electricity grid to power
more than 400 homes annually
• Store energy produced during the day in batteries and re-distribute
at night
Experimenting with dispatchable PV power – Corsica, France
Solution
• PV Box RT and ES Box RT installed in each plant, along with 1

Experimenting with dispatchable PV power – Corsica, France
Goal
• Skid with XC-NA ES inverters, 1MW / 500kWh
• Li-On batteries provided by Eagle Picher
Overview
• Commissioning in 2016
• Located in an area that has a weak grid with high renewable
energy penetration
Goals
• To meet PREPA Minimum Technical Requirements (MTR)
• Allow a higher penetration of intermittent renewable energy
sources without compromising the grid stability
