• Jackfruit are From the Family of Moraceae Which is Common to be Seen Planted or existed
Naturally in tropical area.
• It Produced Fruit around the year .It is said to be originate From Southwestern Rain Forest of
India.
• The Fruits Said to be High in Mineral content Like Calcium, Phosphorus,natrium and
Potassium.
• The Fruit is Large ,ranged from 20kg to 40kg with spiky light green outer skin and slightlty
oval in shape generally.
• The main producer of this fruit is the state of Johor, Pahang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

HISTORY:
• It is believed that Jackfruit has originated in the rain forest of the Western Ghats of India .
• It grows in rain forests and along low-elevations through out India, Burma, Ceylon, Southern
China, Malaya, some small parts of Australia and the East Indies.
• The word “Jackfruit” comes from Portuguese jaca, which is derived from the Malayalam Language
term Chakka.
• Today the trees are Widely growing in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Burma, Indonesia.
• In the Caribbean islands , in the evergreen forest zone of West Africa, in northern , Australia , in
parts of USA, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Pacific islands Yap .and other islands.

climate & soil :
• Particularly warm humid areas are good for Jackfruit cultivation. Although it is grown in tropical
regions, numerous conditions are also suitable.
• Generally the areas near rivers are considered to be the best for Jackfruit farming, but too cold
conditions are a threat.
• Dry soils that can absorb water well, and sandy loam soils with a pH range of 6 to 7 are ideal for
jackfruit farming.

How to Grow Jackfruit :
• Well, first of all you need to live in a humid tropical to near tropical climate.
• Growing jackfruit trees are extremely sensitive to frost and cannot abide drought.
• They flourish in rich, deep and somewhat porous soil.
• Altitudes over 4,000 feet above sea level are detrimental, as are areas of high or sustained winds.
• then propagation is usually attained via seeds, which have a short shelf life of only a month.
Germination takes three to eight weeks.
• but can be sped up by soaking the seeds in water for 24 hours. Once the growing jackfruit trees
gain four leaves, they may be transplanted although the extra long and delicate taproot may make
this difficult.

• Graffed jackfruit plants starts bearing fruits from 4th year itself .
• In Singapore jackfruit variety plants that were grown from seedling start bearing in 3rd year .
