 Abstract

- The study was pursued to realize its main concern which was
to determine the Audience’s Preferred Type of Translation in
Non-English Language Foreign Films. It includes:

General Objective

 The study determines the Audience’s Preferred Type of

Translation in Non-English Language Foreign Films
Specific Objectives

The researchers aim to learn more about the two types of

translation in Non-English Language Foreign Films and Shows,
which are:

 To determine whether the audience prefers either subtitles or

dubs

 To determine which type of translation will help the audience

better understand and absorb the dialogues of the film/show.

 To know their opinions and reviews regarding the two translation

methods

 To identify the strengths and weaknesses of both translation

methods
Highlight of the Findings

 The researchers discovered some facts regarding their

topic “Subtitling VS Dubbing: An Analysis of the Audience’s
Preferred Method of Translation in Non-English Language
Foreign Films and Shows” which are:

 49 out of 50 respondents prefer to watch non-English

language foreign films and shows that are subtitled, with only
1 respondent preferring the dubbed version.

 Most of the respondents consider subtitled non-English

language foreign films and shows are of higher quality than
the dubbed equivalents.

Data Gathering Procedures

 The researchers requested permission from the adviser of the study and the principal of the school to
allow them to conduct the distribution of questionnaires at a given suitable time in order to gain the
essential data for the completion of the study. The researchers also distributed the questionnaires to
people that they know are fans of foreign, non-English language films and shows. The researchers
distributed the questionnaires and collected them. Afterwards, the questionnaires were checked,
tallied and then analyzed.
