Session 2

Pivoting
• Read sheet CO2 per capita raw data from file World_bank_CO2.xlsx
• The year wise data is in the long format.
• Select all the years data together. (may use shift command)
• Then press the menu key and select Pivot.
• Two columns formed name them as Year and CO2. change format of
CO2 to number if it is reflecting as Abc, before going to the
worksheet.
• Plot the two new created columns.
split
• Get the file named session 2. xlsx through data connectors.
• It consists of web site names.
• Try different splits
Creating chart
• Double click on country name
• Double click on CO2(kt).
• Observe we get a plot.
• Double clicking is one way to put data on the sheet.

• Remove all variables .

• Then double click on year. Ensure it is in the column
• Double click on CO2(kt).
• Use the marks card to change to bar.
• Add region by double clicking.
• Observe the tool tip.
Show me tool bar
• Go to the show me tool bar on the right side.
• Just hover over options.
• Select country name and CO2(kt). Look at the one with a frame around.
• Select – region, year and CO2 per capita
• Click on line chart in show me.
• Convert sum to average for CO2 per capita.
• Add region to label- marks card. The labels are written in black.
• To match colour of label and line- click on label -> font -> match mark
colour.
Marks cards
• Drag region to rows. Observe the table created.
• CO2(kt) in the column .
• A bar chart created.

• Remove all variables or create new sheet.

• Drag year to rows.
• Blue pill type means discrete data type. Continuous is green pill.
• Year can be converted to discrete in the sheet (when put in rows portion)
• Put Year in columns and CO2 per capita. Drag country name to detail
button in marks card.
• Put region in tool tip. ( marks cards area).
Colour coding
• Start on afresh sheet or ensure all variables removed.
• Double click on country name.
• Then double click on CO2 per capita. Change to average from sum.
• Drag CO2 per capita on the colour marks card.
• In the colour marks card change measure to average from sum. To
make the colour and the bubble on same measure.
• Increase size of bubble from size marks card.
• Go to colour card and use a border.
• Increase transparency for better view.
• Click on edit in colour marks card.
• Choose two coloured theme. Red black diverging theme.
• Invert the colours.
• Change center value from the advanced option.

• Try on churn data use international plan for colour. And states and
total day calls as the value.
