ROOFING SYSTEMS

• when we say "roof",

we mean a sloped
cover to a building,
made of any material,
and we do NOT mean
a flat concrete slab
that can be used by
humans.
"the slope of the roof is a clear indicator of how
hi-tech the roof is. A very low slope will mean a
hi-tech roof, and a high slope a low-tech roof."
A roof must perform the functions

It should be watertight,

It must support snow,
It must look attractive,
It must have a permanent abrasion-resistant
finish,
It must not absorb heat in hot climates, and
must not loose heat in cold climates.
A roof must be able to withstand the following loads:

• Wind loads, which can be very large in some areas

• Live loads (if the roof is not accessible, it must be
able to withstand the weight of maintenance
workers)
• Snow loads
• Earthquake loads
TYPES OF ROOFING SYSTEMS

Thatch Roofs:
1. One of the earliest roofing
system.
2. Made of dried plant stems.
3. 45deg slope And 400mm
thickness
4. Steep slope increase the speed
of the rain drops and act as
watertight layers.
Slate or Stone Roofs:
1. stone is not the greatest material for roofs, as it is heavy. Slate is a naturally occurring type of

stone that splits into thin layers if you hit it with a chisel in just the right way.

2. This produces thin, waterproof tiles

that can be overlapped to form a roof.

3. Since the stone tiles are not exactly

the same size and thickness.
4. it needs to have a good slope, of
say 20 to 30 degrees, to force the water
to run off the roof and not trickle
through the gaps.
Clay Tile Roofs:

1. Clay tiles are a traditional kind of

roofing material.
2. Clay is a material that is both widely
available and easy to shape into forms
that have lips an channels to direct the
flow of water.
3. It is still widely used in many parts of
the world, and has an attractive
appearance.
Wood Shingle Roofs:

• wooden shingles are light and easily replaceable, and were used extensively
in many parts of the world.
Metal Roofing Systems

1. Metal roofing systems are hugely popular in today's times. They are used in almost every
industrial and airport terminal building and can also be used in residential and educational
buildings.
2. they make for an extremely light, strong, economical, and waterproof roof, and come in a
very wide range of varieties.
3. Commonly used metals are mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Steel roofing sheets
need to be protected from corrosion, and are usually galvanized or coated with other
protective layers.
4. The sheets are quite thin, as much as 0.5mm in the case of steel, and 1mm in aluminum.
5. They therefore require insulation and other layers to be incorporated into the roof.
Types of roofing sheets

1. Metal Roof Sheets

2. Plastic Roof Sheets

3. Polycarbonate Roof Sheets

4. Corrugated Roof Sheets

Metal Roof Sheets
• Whether for use as top of a garden building or to adorn your garage and
protect your pride and joy, metal roof sheets are a fantastic option.

• Highly resistant to all weather conditions

• Metal roof sheets are incredibly durable and very difficult to break.

• These roofing sheets are also lightweight.

• Able to withstand high temperatures. Plus, when finished with a polyester

or plastic coating, the metal underneath won’t dull. These are available in
finishes and colours to suit any property.
Plastic Roof Sheets
• Where plastic roof sheets excel with smaller structures such as
garden sheds as well as temporary buildings.

• If you’re expecting minimal weight to be exerted on the rooftop, then

lightweight plastic options are best. Otherwise, stronger plastics
should be considered to increase overall durability

• It’s worth noting that this will also push up the cost. Plus, plastic
sheet roofs can’t compare with polycarbonate or metal roofing sheets
for overall strength.
Polycarbonate Roof Sheets
• These are made using high-impact polypropylene resin and are manufactured to be both
lightweight and durable as well as easy-to-cut (they can be cut using a utility knife).

• It is highly resistant to oils, water, solvents and even harsh chemicals. so these roofing sheets will
definitely stand up to even the harshest weather.

• Better still, polycarbonate roof sheets can also be enhanced with a range of
special finishes such as:
• UV protection

• Flame retardants

• Corrosive inhibitors

• Colour options
Corrugated Roof Sheets

• Corrugated roof sheets widely used on many agricultural buildings.

This is largely due to the shape that provides enhanced strength
ensuring that these roof sheets provide many years of reliable use.

• In fact, corrugated roof sheets are often used as the base material for
other types of sheet including PVC plastisol.

• PVC plastisol is renowned for its durability and won’t fade or scratch
easily.
Jib cranes
• A type of crane, which has a horizontal member (known as jib or boom) that
supports a moveable hoist fixed to a wall or to a floor-mounted pillar is known as
jib crane.

• Used mostly in industrial premises and on military vehicles, the jib may swing
through an arc, giving additional lateral movement. It can be also fixed.

• The jib cranes can be also fitted on top floors of warehouse buildings to help lift
goods to all floors from ground to top. The jib is an operating arm that extends
horizontally from the crane.
Mast Type Jib Cranes
• Reduced Thrust and Pull
Forces, No Foundation
Required
Types

• MT400 Full Cantilever – Provides for maximum amount of lift where

full use of available headroom is desired.

• MT450 Drop Cantilever – Jib crane boom can be placed at a specific

height to clear overhead obstructions.

Goliath Cranes
• Goliath Cranes are best for industrial heavy-duty application & offers
economical solution. These are easy to install, less expensive & its
safety features proves it more feasible option for outdoor installation
than overhead cranes.

• Goliath cranes are manufactured under the strict supervision of

engineers, to maintain its high quality and proper safety features.

• These goliath cranes appropriate for heavy load applications and

greatly appreciated for its features.
Single Girder Goliath Cranes

• Single Girder Goliath Cranes are used to work in open area like road sides, shipping
yards, construction industry and many other applications. Further, these can be
fitted with walkways & assembly platforms and are suitable for maintaining
workshop fittings.

Double Girder Goliath Cranes

Double Girder Goliath crane mostly used for outdoor applications in

Open/Storage yards, installing these types of cranes benefits the client by saving the
shed construction cost. Where the shed is not designed to withstand the overhead
crane loading, Goliath crane can be the best option for indoor application also.
• Goliath Cranes is the ideal material handling equipment for
• Various industries and
• Project like maintenance hangers, factories, power stations, large
water works, railway yards, harbours, warehouses, construction
sites, transporters, mines, quarries, heavy fabrication units,
contracting firms etc.
• It finds numerous applications such as loading and unloading
trucks, heavy pipe laying in trenches, erection of bulky
equipments, shifting of heavy load etc.
FEATURES
 Capacity: Single Girder cranes up to 50 ton cap. Double
Girder Cranes up to 100 ton cap.
 Span: up to 35 meters. (Depending on the capacity)
 Widely used for outdoor applications like construction area.
Ship yards
 Used when rails are installed on ground surface
 Used to carry materials outdoor to indoor area
 Cost effective and economical solutions- no need of
concrete foundations , Runway beam and columns
