Introduction to 5G

 5G communication is the latest iteration of mobile technology.

 It is engineered to greatly increase the responsiveness and speed of
wireless networks.
 5G technology has incredible transmission speed and has low
latency.
 Amount of data transferred is more due to more available
bandwidth and advanced antenna technology.
Evolution from 1G to 5G
 Since it is difficult to communicate long distance using wired
technology, we have introduced the concept of wireless
technology, also called telecommunication.
 It started with 1G and the present technology is 4G.
 5G technology is the upcoming technology.
1G Technology

 Developed in 1980s.
 The first commercially automated network was launched in japan.
 Used for only voice calling purpose.
 Radio signals used for this were analog.
 Technology used in 1G was Advance Mobile Phone Service (AMPS).
2G Technology

 2G was developed in 1990s.

 Along with voice calls, 2G technology offered several features like
text messages, picture messages, MMS.
 With the help of GPRS, 2G offered data services with low
transmission speed.
 The data transferred over 2G was digitally encrypted.
3G Technology

 3G was developed in late 1990s.

 It is the upgrade for 2G and 2.5G(GPRS), for faster internet speed.
 Along with the features offered in 2G, 3G technology offered
features like internet mobile, video calling and mobile TV.
 The concept of GPS was introduced in 3G.
 The technology used here was CDMA.
4G Technology

 4G is the current mobile technology is use and was developed in

late 2000s.
 The features of 4G technology included video conferencing, high
definition mobile TV and faster data transmission rates.
 Technology used in 4G is OFDMA.
 Low cost.
5G Technology

 5G is the latest and the upcoming technology.

 More faster and reliable than 4G.
 Expect speed up to 1GBPS.
 It targets reduced latency, high data rate, energy saving and
massive device connecting.
Foundations of 5G

 Millimetre waves
 Small cell
 Massive MIMO
 Beam foaming
 Full duplex
Architecture of 5G
Advantages

 Data transmission rate up to 1 GBPS.

 Lowered data cost.
 High resolution and bi-directional large bandwidth shaping.
 Possible to provide uniform, uninterrupted, and consistent
connectivity across the world.
 More effective and efficient
Disadvantages

 May be a worry for birds and other living beings.

 Many of the old devices would not be competent to 5G, hence, all
of them need to be replaced with new one.
 Security and privacy issue yet to be solved.
 Developing infrastructure needs high cost.
Conclusion

 As we know that 5G is still under development, studies say that 5G is

user centric and can be used for relentless data connectivity.
 5g technology can aid smart cities in which energy grids, traffic
signals and emergency services are linked to reduce inefficiencies.
 5G technology can be extensively used for Internet Of Things.
 This can be seen as the future mobile technology and is expected
to come into the market by 2020.
