• INTRODUCTION: -
Internships are key to building experience as a
student or recent graduate. Employers are
much more likely to hire someone
with internships and work experience rather
than someone with a generic resume, lacking
experience. It is important that you choose
you internships based on your interests and
career prospects.
EXTRADOSED BRIDGE OVER
BARAPULLAH PHASE-III
•NAME OF PROJECT: EXTRADOSED BRIDGE OVER
BARAPULLAH PHASE -III
•LOCATION: M/s. CENTRAL PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT FLYOVER PROJECT PWD,
SARAI KALE KHAN, RING ROAD, DELHI
•TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST: 960 crore
•PURPOSE: FOR TRANSPORTATION
•WORK IN PROCESS : 1) ERECTION
2) PIERTABLE
3) D-AREA(CASTING OF SEGMENTS)
4) QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORY
EXTRADOSED BRIDGE
• It is a structure that combines the main elements of both a
prestressed “ girder bridge” and a “cable stayed bridge”.
• It is mostly suited to medium length spans between 100
mtr to 500 mtr.
ERECTION
• Erection is the action of erecting a structure or
any object.
• Erection of a bridge is done by four steps:
1) Dry matching
2) Back pushing
3) Gluing
4) Stressing
Dry matching
• It means joining all the segments to make span by
interlocking their shear keys i.e. male and female keys.
Shear key
Back Pushing
• After dry matching all segments are back pushed and their
alignment is set by surveying.
• Total station, prism rod (300 mm) is used for adjusting the
alignment.
Surveying
Gluing
• Gluing is done with the help of P.T. beams.
• P.T. beams are used to hold the span after the gluing.
• These are also used to erect the span until stressing is done.
P.T beams used after gluing
Stressing OR Tensioning
• The tensioning of the tendons with the help of
hydraulic jack is known as “stressing”.
• Tensioning is of two types:
1) Pre-Tensioning
2) Post-Tensioning
• Pre tensioning is the tensioning of tendons before
the placement of the concrete.
• Post tensioning is the tensioning of the tendons
after the placement of the concrete.
• Basically it is the process to introduce internal forces
into a concrete in order to counteract the external
loads applied when the structure is put into use.
• These internal forces are applied by tensioning high
strength steel “Strands” also called “Tendons”.
• Diameter of one H.T cable is 15.2mm.
• In the stressing all the tendons are inserted into the
ducts(High density polyethylene pipes) which are
arranged in a proper before the placement of concrete
in the segment.
• Then the edges of tendons which are remaining
portion of tendons outside the segment are cut and
anchored against the outer edges of the concrete.
Types of Post Tensioning
• Post tensioning is carried out in two ways:
1) Transverse Post Tensioning
2) Longitudinal Post Tensioning
