PRODUCTION SYSTEM
The methods, procedure or arrangement which includes all
functions required to accumulate (gather) the inputs, process or
reprocess the inputs, and deliver the marketable output (goods).“

Production system utilizes materials, funds, infrastructure,


and labor to produce the required output in form of goods.

Production system consists of three main components viz., Inputs,


Conversion Process and Output.

QUALITY
 In manufacturing, QUALITY is a measure of excellence or a state
of being free from defects, deficiencies and significant variations.

 It is brought about by strict and consistent commitment to


certain standards that achieve uniformity of a product in order to
satisfy specific customer or user requirements.

The totality of features and characteristics of a product or service


that bears its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT

 Quality management ensures that an organization, product or


service is consistent.

It has four main components:


quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality
improvement.

 Quality management is focused not only on product and service


quality, but also on the means to achieve it.
Importance of Quality Management

1. “Quality management” ensures superior quality


products and services.

2. Quality management is essential for customer


satisfaction which eventually leads to customer loyalty.

3.Quality Management ensures increased revenues and


higher productivity for the organization.
QUALITY CONTROL

Quality Control : “A part of quality management focused on


fulfilling quality requirements”.

Quality Control is defined as “The operational techniques and


activities used to fulfill requirements for quality.

Quality Control just measures and determines the quality level


of products or services. It is a process itself.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Quality Assurance : “A part of quality management focused on


providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled.
Quality Assurance is defined as “All the planned and systematic
activities implemented within the quality system that can be
demonstrated to provide confidence that a product or service will
ful-fill requirements for quality”.
Quality Assurance is a complete system to assure the quality of
products or services. It is not only a process, but a complete
system including also control. It is a way of management.

6 CIGMA Approach
Six Sigma is a set of techniques, and tools for process
improvement. It was developed by Motorola in 1986.

Six Sigma approach is a collection of managerial and statistical


concept and techniques that focuses on reducing variation in
processes and preventing deficiencies in product.

The concept of Variation states “NO two items will be perfectly


identical.”
