ABSTRACT

• The road accidents in modern urban areas are increased to

uncertain level. About 1.24 million people die each year
due to crashes on road.
• To reduce the chances of death of victim due to accidents,
this scheme is introduced.
• In proposed system occurrence of accident is detected
using sensors in the vehicle.
• Immediately GPS and GSM module in the concerned
vehicle will send the location of the accident to the main
server which will rush an ambulance from a nearest
hospital to the accident spot.
EXISTING SYSTEM
• In this system we cannot monitor the location of the
vehicle remotely.
• We cannot find the status of the vehicle.
• Accidents cannot be avoided in this method.
DISADVANTAGES
• About 1.24 million people die
each every year due to crashes
on road.
• No witness to call ambulance in
remote areas.
• Location can not be accurately
mentioned in remote areas.
• Rescue time is large which
results in death of victim.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
• In the proposed system, we are introducing vehicle
monitoring using GPS and sending the location through
GSM.
• In this system we can monitor the status of the vehicle i.e.
temperature of the vehicle ,accident detection using MEMS
etc… and send data to the concerned person through GSM..
ADVANTAGES
• Occurrence of accident is detected
by sensors without any intervening
time.
• Using GPS module and GSM modem,
message is sent to concerned numbers
like ambulance, police etc., along with
location of vehicle.
• Immediate medication is provided to
victims even in remote areas.
• Death percentage due to accident
reduces as rescue time is less.

POWER SUPPLY
• A power supply is a device which delivers an exact
voltage to another device as per its needs .There are
many power supplies available today in the market
like regulated , unregulated ,variable etc.
ARDUINO UNO
WHAT IS ARDUINO?
• The Arduino microcontroller is an easy to use yet
powerful single board computer .
• It is open-source, which means hardware is
reasonably priced and development software is free.
• The Arduino programming language is a simplified
version of C/C++. If you know C, programming the
Arduino will be familiar.
• An important feature of the Arduino is that you can
create a control program on the host PC, download it
to the Arduino and it will run automatically.
GSM TECHNOLOGY
• Global system for mobile communication (GSM) is a
globally accepted standard for digital cellular
communication.
• GSM is the name of a standardization group
established in 1982 to create a common European
mobile telephone standard that would formulate
specifications mobile cellular radio system operating
at 900 MHz.
GSM NETWORK
GPS MODULE
• Ultra high sensitivity: -165dBm
• 22 tracking/66 acquisition-channel receiver
• WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS/GAGAN support
• AGPS support
• NMEA protocols (default speed: 9600bps)
• One serial port
• Embedded patch antenna 12*12*4 mm
• Operating temperature range: -40 to 85°C
• RoHS compliant (Lead-free)
MEMS SENSOR
• The MEMS accelerometers can be divided into two
important micro system architectures which are
1.Piezo resistive and Capacitive
• The Capacitive accelerometers possess a differential
capacitor whose balance is disrupted by the proof
mass movement.
• Piezo resistive accelerometers commonly rely on
inducing, which attach the proof mass to the sensor
which is used for identification of the movement of
the mass.
DHT11 SENSOR
• This DHT11 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
features a calibrated digital signal output with the
sensor capability .
• Its technology ensures the high reliability and
excellent long-term stability.
• This sensor includes a resistive element and a sensor
for wet NTC temperature measuring devices.
• It has excellent quality, fast response, anti-
interference ability and high performance.
LCD
• LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic
display module and find a wide range of applications.
• A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very
commonly used in various devices and circuits. These
modules are preferred over seven segments and other
multi segment LEDs.
• It can display 16 characters per line and there are 2
such lines. In this LCD each character is displayed in
5x7 pixel matrix.
• This LCD has two registers, namely, Command and
Data.
WORKING
• Our system can detect the accident using Mems sensor.
• Mems sensor changes its resistance depending upon amount
of bend due to accident. There are threshold values of these
sensor outputs.
• In the condition of breaking, system will calculate coordinates
(latitude, longitude and altitude) using GPS.
• These co-ordinates will be messaged to nearest hospital for
emergency medical help as well as to police station using
GSM module and also the data will be uploaded to the cloud
server.
• GPS module used here is to detect the location of accident and
is compact, high performance.
ADVANTAGES
• Low power consumption
• More reliable
• More compatible
• More secured
APPLICATIONS
• Reduces number of life risks after accidents
• Useful to protecting vehicles in parking at public
places.
• Useful in tracing vehicle.
• Useful in monitoring the vehicle
CONCLUSION
• This project gives a design which has many benefits
like low cost, portability, small size.
• Combination of microcontroller in conjunction with
MEMS sensor, GPS and GSM interfacing which
reduces the alarm time to a large level and gives the
accident location accurately.
• It can also overcome the issue of lack of automated
system for the detection of the site of accident. As a
result, the victim can be treated as soon as possible
which will save many lives.
FUTURE SCOPE
• In future we can interface different sensors with this
paper, such as alcohol detector, drowsiness AND
heart rate detector, etc.
• Security sensors to identify theft can also be added.
It can be reprogrammed to switch off vehicle and
track the vehicle in theft.
• A wireless webcam can be added for capturing the
images which will help in providing driver`s
assistance.
