INTRODUCTION
 Focused beams of sound
 Target specific

 Inaudible ultrasound pulses

DRAWBACKS OF EARLIER SOUND SYSTEMS
 Even the sophisticated hi-fi speakers cannot give
clean bass
 Audible portions of sound spread out in all
directions
 Source loud speaker had to made several times
bigger to get a narrow beam of sound waves
WHY LARGE SOURCE OF SOUND (LOUD
SPEAKER)

 Beam angle of audible sound is very

wide(360degrees)
 Narrow sound waves are produced by low beam
angle
 If the source loud speaker is made very wide
then a focused beam of sound can be produced
 The source should be greater than that of
wavelength of sound
 It cannot be a practical solution

accessories Due to continued development, specifications
are subject to change
WORKING

 Low frequency signal is frequency modulated

with high frequency ultrasonic waves ranging
from 21KHZ to 28 KHZ
 Output sound wave in the order of few
millimeters
 Since wavelength is small ,the beam angle is also
drastically reduced
NON LINEARITY OF AIR
 Non linear action of air slightly changes the
sound
 This inturn causes a new sound within the
ultrasonic sound waves
 New sound wave is with in the range of our
orginal sound wave (20 Hz to 20 KHZ)
 Thus if we can predict how air effects the
ultrasonic waves ,we can predict the newsound
wave
 We cannot hear high frequencies ,we can only
hear the new sound waves formed by non
linearity of air
BLOCK DIAGRAM
TRANSDUCER
 It is 1.27 cm thick and 17” in diameter
 It is capable of producing audibility up to 200
meters with better clarity of sound
 These are arranged in a form of array called
parametric array to exploit the non linearity of
air

advantages disadvantages

 Can focus only at  Each unit must be

place you want handmade
 Requires only small  The most common
power source form of distortion is
 Highly cost effective clipping
APPLICATIONS
 MILITARY
 RETAIL SALES

 MUSEUMS

 EMERGENCY RESCUE

 ENTERTAINMENT
FUTURE OF AUDIO SPOTLIGHTING
 Even the best loud speakers are subject to distortion
 Audio spotlighting can replace all the general loudspeakers
very soon
 People living in the vicinity cannot hear the audio that you
are hearing and they cannot be disturbed
CONCLUSION
 Audio spotlighting is really going to make a
revolution in the sound transmission
 User can decide the path in which audio signal
can propogate
 It finds application in large number of fields

 Audio spotlighting is going shape the future of

sound
