ICT ( INFORMATION

COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES )
 "ICT in Education" is an abbreviation of Information
Communication Technologies used in education.

ICT education tools can be divided into 3 categories, input

resources, Output Resources and others

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or Information
Communication and Technology (ICT) in the current era of
globalization has become a fundamental requirement in supporting
the effectiveness and quality of the educational process. Educational
issues in Indonesia such as the quality and relevance of education,
access and education equity, geographical range, education
management, autonomy and accountability, efficiency and
productivity, budget and sustainability, can not be overcome without
ICT support. ICT-based education is a means of interaction of
management and administration of education, which can be utilized
both by educators and educational staff and learners in improving
the quality, productivity, effectiveness and access to education.
Information and Communication Technology Concepts

In simple terms Elston (2007) distinguishes between

Information Technology (IT) and Information and
Communication Technology (ICT), namely "IT as the technology
used to manage information and aid communication".
Meanwhile, UNESCO (2003) defines Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) as follows: "ICT generally
relates to those technologies that are used for accessing,
gathering, manipulating and presenting or communicating
information. The technologies could include hardware e.g.
computers and others devices, software applications, and
connectivity e.g. access to the internet, local networking
infrastructure, and video conferencing ".
Morsund in UNESCO (2003) provides detailed ICT
coverage covering the following:

hardware and computer software and

telecommunication facilities
calculators from calculator to super computer
projector / LCD device
LAN (local area network) and WAN (wide area
networks)
Digital cameras, computer games, CDs, DVDs,
cellular phones, telecommunications satellites
and fiber optics
computer and robot machines
UNESCO has identified 4 (four) stages in the education system that adopt ICT,
namely:

1) Emerging stage; ie college / school are at an early stage. Educators and education
personnel begin to realize, choose / buy, or receive donations for the procurement of
facilities and infrastructure (supporting work performance)

2) applying stage; ie colleges / schools have a new understanding of the contribution

of ICT. Educators and education personnel use ICTs in school management and
curricula (enhancing traditional teaching)

3) infusing stage; involving curriculum by integrating ICT. Colleges / schools are

developing computer-based technology in labs, classes, and administration.
Educators and education personnel explore through new understandings, where ICT
transforms professional productivity (facilitating learning).

4) Transforming Stage; ie colleges / schools have taken advantage of ICTs

throughout the organization. Educators and education personnel create an integrative
and creative learning environment through ICT.

3 The main advantages of ICT tools for
education
 1‧ Through ICT, images can be more easily used in the
teaching process and improve the memory of the
students.
 2‧ Through ICT, teachers can easily explain complex
instructions and ensure students' understanding.
 3‧ Through ICT, teachers can create interactive classes
and make learning more enjoyable, which can improve
attendance and concentration of students
3 Major deficiencies of ICT for education

 1‧ Issues in the settings and operation of the

device
 2‧ Too expensive to have
 3‧ Difficulties for teachers with minimal
experience in the use of ICT tools
My opinion, after considering some of these things, it's easy to
see that the Visualiser / Document Camera can be the most
effective and efficient ICT tool for education.

The reasons are as follows

1‧ The visualiser / Document Camera has 3 basic
characteristics: Cost effective, easy to use, time
saving - A solution to 3 major issues from the use of ICT
tools
2‧ The Visualiser / Document Camera can reduce the teaching
preparation time of the teachers, Increase interactivity with
pupils, improve the concentration and level of students'
understanding of intricate instuctions
What is a visualiser / document camera?

The Visualiser / Document Camera is a

very flexible teaching tool that allows
teachers and students to display any
object from a piece of paper to a piano,
in excellent color, or even to someone in
the room. You can point, add captions,
zoom in or out (zoom in-out), or get
different viewpoints by rotating the arm /
camera head from the visualiser /
document camera. Its flexibility helps
develop the creativity of teachers and
students
5 facts are there to get to know the
visualisers / document camera

1. Project and enlarge any object to the big screen

2. Demonstrate practical skills clearly
3. Bringing the learning process to life more
4. Create an interactive class
5. Save your precious money and time
