INTRODUCTION
VARIATION OF ROAD LENGTHS OVER YEARS IN BANGALORE:
1. Road works are causing time delay on both private
and public transportation.

Affect of road works on travel time

It is well known that the public transport passengers are highly
sensitive to the waiting time (than the in-vehicle travel time)
and on-time arrival of bus/tram is crucial to retain the
patronage. Thus we aim to address two main questions in
this project:
(i) do road works have a significant impact on reliability of
network travel time?
(ii) does reliability of public transport service differ substantially
compared to private cars within the network?

•However, the traffic network reliability is a widely used term
which was divided into connectivity and performance
reliability measures (Bell et al., 1999).
• Popa et al. (2012) also argued
that the travel time reliability measure is relevant to both
planners and public users too. Thus, in this paper we focus
on travel time reliability as the chosen measure.

SCOPES AND OBJECTIVES

• To determine the reliability of public transport system during road work progression
• To determine the impact of road work on ease mobility of traffic.
• To determine the comparison between reliability of different transport service during road work in
terms time as parameter.
• To determine the traffic congestion indices before and after suggesting the reroute due to road works.
• To reduce the traffic congestion due to road works in an urban area.
• To reduce delays due to the road networks.
• To achieve the optimum reliability in terms of time for all transport services in an urban area during the
road work progression.

• The impact of road network along the same path may be diverted for different transport
services.
• The alternate route assignment for different destination may be determined and suggested for
the road users.
• The connectivity at the temporary stage will be determined and rerouted as best route at
that duration of time.
