THE ADVANTAGES OF GAS

STUDENTS
It is for learners who are not yet decided on what course to take in college. It is
possible that the learner will be given bridging courses to assess the learners
preparedness for the field of study that they will choose in the future. General
Academic Strand will present the option for students to take their electives from
specialized subjects of any other strands.
The General Academic Strand, however; is for students who are still in an interim
period of choosing their preferred strand. It also offers basic electives from the
different strands.
THE ADVANTAGES OF GAS
STRAND
 General Academic strand was implemented to give ways for the
undecided students to think about their preferred degree once they
step into college. It is just a guide point in the lives of students to
help them make up their mind with what they really want to be once
they had entered the adult life. The students that wanted to pursue a
major in college related to education are to be place in this strand.
THE ADVANTAGES OF GAS
STUDENTS
 The General Academic Strand or also known as GAS has a 8 cool specialized
subjects like a Humanities 1 b. Humanities 2 c. Social Science 1 d. Applied
Economics e. Organization and Management f. Disaster Readiness and Risk
Reduction g. Elective 1 h. Elective 2 i. Work Immersion/Research/Career
Advocacy/Culminating Activity
 Now what is General Academic Strand all about? It comprises of cool subjects
and students who take the General Academic Strand will not be unprepared and in
General Academic Strand you can choose not ones but two subjects from any other
academic strand, and you can mix and match as you please
PROBLEM
 One of the problems of General Academic Strand or GAS is having a
lot of subject that does not interest the student and also they are not
focusing on one subject the students are getting more pressured because
they had all the subject in each strand and students who will take General
Academic Strand will have a problem in catching up with the lessons.
They say that the STEM strand is the most challenging tracks, but for me?
It is not. Because for me the most challenging and the most harder tracks
are GAS because each lessons on strand are in there (GAS).
OBJECTIVES

 •The students will not be uncertained of the course that they will
take when they go to college.

 They will know what they really want to do with their life

 Students are able to learn best through their first language so the
system offers a Multilingual Education.

 help students decide on what they really want.

THE EFFECTS OF SLEEP
DEPRIVATION ON
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCES
INTRODUCTION

 Sleep deprivation is the condition of not having enough sleep; it

can be either chronic or acute. A chronic sleep-restricted state can
cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss or
weight gain. It adversely affects the brain and cognitive function. but,
in a subset of cases sleep deprivation can, paradoxically, lead to
increased energy and alertness and enhanced mood; it has even been
used as a treatment for depression
INTRODUCTION

 The negative effects of sleep deprivation on alertness and

cognitive performance suggest decreases in brain activity and function
to the students and that results to poor performance in their
academics and also sleep deprivation affects their growth and
cramping are much more frequent in sleep-deprived individuals
INTRODUCTION

 The students who are sleep deprived are more likely to be failed in
their academic performances and they lack concentration, not getting
enough sleep makes us groggy and cranky the next day Prolonged
lack of sleep can lead to depression and attention deficit disorders
(DAHL) as well as difficulty retaining information, not to mention it’s
simply tougher to stay awake in class. And one of the reason why
some of the students failed their class is because of sleep deprivation
PROBLEM

 Sleep deprived students are failing their subject due to lack of

concentration,
 Deprived of sleep affects a child’s health and safety as well as their
ability to learn, and also increases the risk of getting a heart disease and a
student who is sleep deprived tend to be forgetful and they always feel
tired without doing much work and they always go to school late and they
ended up delayed on their lectures, And they are always grumpy and they
also has a difficulty of undertanding things
PROBLEM
 The sleep deprived students could start having hallucinations sleep deprivation can
make a student moody, emotional, and quick-tempered. And lack of sleep can lead to
anxiety and depression.
 Sleep deprivation can weakens ones immune system’s defenses against viruses like
those that cause the common cold and flu.
 Lack of sleep can affect your balance and coordination, making you more prone to
falls and other physical accidents, and with sleep deprivation, the chemicals that signals to
your brain that you are full, are off balance. And if you sleep less than five hours a night,
you risk for high blood pressure increases. And students who are sleep deprived is having
trouble with thinking and concentration
OBJECTIVES

 To give awareness to the students who like to sleep at night

 To help students to prevent being lowsy and grumpy

 And to raise awareness to some teens who likes to sleep late at

night without any valid reason

 To prevent students from being late and from failing their subjects
THE DISADVANTAGE AND
ADVANTAGE OF K -12
INTRODUCTION
 The implementation of K-12 curriculum in the country drew negative reactions from
various societal groups. Since 2011, critics have been very vocal on their primary
concerns. They insist the government isn’t yet ready for this new system and that this is
more of additional burden to students and their parents.
 Despite calls to suspend the program, the government remained firm saying this new
educational system offers opportunities for Filipino students and the national economy.
The new K-12 curriculum guide requires all Filipino students to have one year of
kindergarten, six years of elementary schooling (grades 1 to 6), four years of junior high
school (grades 7 to 10), and two years of senior high school (grades 11 to 12).
INTRODUCTION

 Prior to the implementation of the K-12 curriculum guide, the Philippines was
one of only three countries in the world and the only one in Asia that still had only
10 years in basic education.

 This has always been seen as a disadvantage for our students who are competing
in an increasingly global job market. The longer educational cycle of the K-12
curriculum is seen as critical in giving Filipino students a higher quality of
education.
PROBLEM
 the unavailability of learning materials and lack of facilities
 Besides the quantity of books, there's also the issue of their quality. Another problem is the
need of teachers to be trained on pedagogy, educational research, measurement and evaluation
and classroom management. Basically, newly – hired teaching personnel are not actually BS
Education graduates. They only have four – year course diploma before being inducted into
service. Lack of competence is a serious concern that we must address immediately.
Nevertheless, many professionals were really attracted to the positions offered by the DepEd
considering the high salary offered to them. But the problem is they do not know how to
transfer the learning from them to their respective students. Aside from this, some teachers also
have low commitment; they do not love their work and seriously not happy in their present
situation.
OBJECTIVES

 To change public perception that high school education is just a preparation for
college; rather than, it should allow one to take advantage of opportunities for
gainful career or employment and/or self - employment in a rapidly changing and
increasingly globalized environment.
 Graduates will be prepared for higher education. Due to an enhanced
curriculum that will provide relevant content and attuned with the changing needs
of time, basic education will ensure sufficient mastery of core subjects to its
graduates much that graduates may opt to pursue higher education if they choose
to.
OBJECTIVES

 Graduates will be able to earn higher wages and/or better

prepared to start their own business.

 Graduates could now be recognized abroad, Filipino graduates eg.

Engineers, architects, doctors, etc., could now be recognized as
professionals in other countries. Those who intend to study abroad
will meet the entrance requirements of foreign schools.
