Industry

• Seed is the important and required input for sustainable agriculture. The
response of all other inputs depends on quality of seeds to a large extent. It is
estimated that the direct contribution of quality seed alone to the total
production

company introduction

• The Corporation was established in the year 1973 under the name and style of
Karnataka State Argo Seeds Corporation Limited”, a subsidiary organisation of
Karnataka Argo Industries Corporation Limited. The Government of Karnataka
have participated in the National Seed Project- 2 during 1979.Under the National
Seed project ,the subsidiary organisation was made as independent Corporation
under the present name and style of “Karnataka State Seeds Corporation
Limited”. Today the corporation is one of the successfully run organisations of the
Government of Karnataka.
• It is classified as state government company and is registered at Registrar of
company, Bangalore. Its authorised share capital Rs. 5,00,00,000/- and its paid up
capital is Rs.3,75,70,448.
Objectives
To emerge as an industry leader in the state ,in seed line of activity, with a
continuous pursuance of excellence in quality and effective distribution service,
with an eye on right product, right time ,right place of supply.
Investments
• The Government of Karnataka, National Seeds Corporation Ltd. (NSC) and the
Seed Growers are eligible for investment in the Share Capital in the proportion of
35:30:35 respectively.

Main activities of the company
• The main activities of KSSCL are to produce various kinds of seeds for the
beneficial of the of the farmers.
Seed Production
• The company organises the contract seed production programme through its
shareholder growers & other resourceful progressive growers on their land
holdings. The Parent /Breeder/Foundation seeds& Seed production Technical
know-how required for seed production are impacted by the company to the
seed producing farmers through its technically trained personnel.
Seed Processing
• The company at present has established 23 Seed Processing Plants in the state.
The Seed growers’ raw seed produced compiled with seed quality pare meters at
field level is processed in these seed processing plants for free cost. The cost of
processing is met by the company. Under the national seed processing phase-2,
the company has established 2 modern seed processing plants at Davanagere and
Chikkaballapur.
Seed marketing
• As board policy, the company has adopted a mixed distribution network,
comprising of its own retail outlets, the Karnataka Co-operative Marketing
Federation, Co-operative Societies and authorised seeds/input dealers. It is also
making the seed available through the ‘ Rytha Samparka Kendra’s of the
Karnataka State Department of Agriculture (KSDA).

agricultural productivity & production & for improving the viability of
agriculture as a vacation”.

“ To lead the Indian Seed Industry by producing & marketing quality of seeds of a
wide range of crop varieties & hybrid & adding value through other Argo related
inputs & services to the satisfaction of farmers .”

• To know the financial performance of the company.
• To know the cash flow in the company.
• To compare cash flow with other company.
• To know the company's problem faced by financial performance.
• To know the cash activities.
Scope of the study:
• The scope of the is to understand and to know the importance of financial
statement and cash flow statement, how assets and liabilities and cash inflow and
outflow is managed by the organisation by the use of effective tools at Karnataka
State Seeds Corporation Limited

Limitation of study
• Financial report which collected only which is mention in annual report.
• Not enough to collect more information and cannot go through it deeply
because the study is for a shorter period.
• Study is based on only one unit of Karnataka state seeds Corporation
Limited which is located in in Bengaluru.
• Only balance sheet and cash flow statement are referred for the study.
• Study is mainly based on secondary and some information is confidential
so unable to collect. The study is done only on assuming the data is correct
which is mentioned in the annual report.
• Study is done only for limited years.
