 WHAT IS A SELF-DRIVING CAR ?
• A self-driving car sometimes called an
autonomous car or driverless car is a vehicle that
uses a combination of sensors, cameras, radar
and artificial intelligence ( AI ) to travel between
operator.
• To qualify as fully autonomous, a vehicle must be
able to navigate without human intervention to a
predetermined destination over roads that have
not been adapted for its use.
• Companies develop or testing autonomous
cars includes Audi, BMW, Ford, Google,
General motors, Tesla, Volkswagen, Volvo.
Google’s test involved a fleet of self-driving
cars
• - including Toyota prii and Audi TT
• - navigation over 140,000 miles of California
streets and highways.
 HOW DOES A SELF-DRIVING CAR
WORK?
• There are several system that work in
conjunction with each to control a self-driving
car.
• Radar sensors dotted around the car monitor
the position of vehicle nearby.
• Video cameras detect traffic light’s, read road
signs and keep track of other vehicles . While
also looking out for pedestrians and other
obstacles.
• Lidar sensors help to detect the edges of roads
and identify lane markings by bouncing pulses
of light off the car’s surroundings.
• Self-driving cars use cloud computing to act
upon traffic data, weather, maps, adjacent
cars and surface conditions among others.
This helps them monitor their surroundings
better and make informed decisions.
 BENEFITS OF SELF-DRIVING CARS.
• Self driving vehicles communicate with each
other and their surroundings. Hence they are
able to identify the optimal route. This helps
spread for scares road spaces.
• Worldwide, 1.2 million peoples are killed each
year in traffic accidents . Widespread embrace of
self-driving vehicles could eliminate 90% of all
auto accidents in the U.S alone preventing up to
$190 billion in damages and health costs annually
and saving thousands of lives.
• According to a recent study, the average
American spends 101 minutes per day driving.
That mean that on a lifetime was spend a
whopping 37,935hours driving car assuming
that we starts driving at 17, with autonomous
cars, you just have to sit back and relax, read a
book, watch a game or take a nap while the
car does all the driving.

DRIVING CAR.
• The first self-driving car prototype was operated
by Google under Alphabet lnc.in 2015.
• A passenger in a Tesla Model S died in an
autonomous car in 2016 when the autopilot
system failed to detect a tractor-trailer due to
lighting and weather.
• It has been estimated that by 2050 almost all
vehicles on the road will be autonomous. By 2035
it is estimated that just under 10% will be
autonomous.
• Google didn’t make a big point of this, but the
self-driving cars will be 100% electric. That
would certainly make them much greener
than typical cars.
• The self-driving cars are limited to a maximum
speed of 25mps ( 40kmph ), this means it will
also have to avoids certain roads.
