basics of finance to protect them against fraudulent practices in the
Finance field.

• To make investors aware about different asset classes and avenues of

investments.
Let’s Know the Product…

Investor Awareness Program

What is Financial Literacy ?
It is the possession of the set of skills and knowledge that allows an individual to
make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources.
Financial literacy also involves the proficiency of financial principles and
concepts such as financial planning, compound interest, managing debt,
profitable savings techniques and the time value of money.
Why is there a need for
Financial Literacy and
Investor Awareness ?
The lack of financial literacy may lead to making poor financial choices that can
have negative consequences on the financial well-being of an individual. As per
a global survey by Standard & Poor's Financial Services LLC (S&P) only 25 per
cent of adults or less are financially literate in South Asian countries. For an
average Indian, financial literacy is yet to become a priority.
India is home to 17.5 per cent of the world's population and nearly 76 per cent
of its adult population does not understand even the basic financial concepts.
What is SEBI ?
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the designated regulatory
body for the finance and investment markets in India. The board plays a vital
role in maintaining stable and efficient financial and investment markets by
creating and enforcing effective regulation in India's financial marketplace.
India's SEBI is similar to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

It plays a key role in ensuring the stability of the financial markets in India, by
attracting foreign investors and protecting Indian investors. SEBI was built by
the government of India. Its headquarters is located at the Bandra Kurla
Complex Business District found in Mumbai.
What is NISM ?
National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is an Indian public trust and an
educational institute and staff college of SEBI established in 2006 by
the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) the regulator for the
securities market in India. The institute offers academic programmes, training
programmes, capacity building and skill development programmes in securities
markets. The institute also provides financial education and standards to
improve financial literacy in the country. The institute is located
in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, India.
What is an
Asset Management Company
(AMC) ?
An asset management company (AMC) is a company that invests its
clients' pooled funds into securities that match declared financial
objectives. Asset management companies provide investors with
more diversification and investing options than they would have by
themselves. AMCs manage mutual funds, hedge funds and pension
plans, and these companies earn income by charging service fees or
commissions to their clients.
There are total of 43 Asset Management Companies(AMCs) in India.
Nevertheless, an interesting point to note here is that the total number
of mutual fund schemes is over 2599 in India.
