BBFC
• The BBFC rate every film by a age rating which is most suitable for the film to be on
variables such as: language, dug use, drugs, nudity, sex, discrimination, themes, horror
and violence- all of these variables are looked at when rating a film.
• BBFC also consider the content of the film so it rates the film on how it makes the
audience feel, so if it’s a tragedy and it causes a lot of stress on the audience it wouldn’t
be suitable for children as it can stress them out.
• In the case of inbetweeners it’s a 15 as the film contains very strong language and strong
sexual references so the film wouldn’t be aimed at children. The reason why it isnt a 18 is
because its only verbally bad as the film doesn't contain any nudity or violence its just
words.
ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY
• The ASA make sure all adverts in the UK stick to the Advertising Codes guidelines and if it
breaks the rules the advert will be removed. ASA is a independent advertising regulator.
• The ASA respond to concerns and complaints from businesses and viewers of adverts
and the ASA take action to ban ads which are misleading, harmful, irresponsible or
offensive so that no one is annoyed at when watching adverts.
• The ASA also monitor ads to check that all ASA’s guidelines are met.
• In a children's film like Incredibles the advertisements wont have to be monitored as it is a
family film. Not making it be labelled as harmful, offensive or irresponsible. However it
could be labelled as misleading if the adverts sells the film in comparison to watching it.
OFCOM

• Football matches on TV are rated U as its suitable for all ages as all harmful or offensive
content would have been removed from the TV so that everyone can watch it, offensive
language and violence wont been shown on TV
• David blain performed a magic trick whereby he stabs a needle through his hand, it got
taken down as it looked too realistic even though it was just magic.
YOUTUBE COPYRIGHT REGULATION AND CCS
• CCS stands for Crown Commercial Service which brings together policy, advice and direct
buying. This provides commercial services to the public sector and saving money for the
taxpayer.
• CSS is an agency sponsored by the cabinet office. The cabinet does not function as a
collective legislative influence, rather their primary role is as an official advisory council to
the head of government.
• With YouTube you upload original contents you will be protected by the copyrights but if
you upload someone else's content they will be protected by the copyright.
• If the Incredibles was posted onto YouTube it would be taken down very quickly as its
Pixar’s content
BECTU
• BECTU stands for Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union. They
represent staff, contract and freelance workers who are based in the UK.
• When producing Incredibles the BECTU would ensure that all workers working on the film
aren't being exploited for their work or content. This would mean that things like overtime
and added pressure wouldn’t be unnecessarily forced unto unnecessary pressures
• This would make the law within that the rules and guidelines are kept in place by BECTU
towards entertainment institutions
