TYPES OF L.B WALLS
NON L.B WALLS

 A wall which doesn’t help the structure to stand up and holds up

only itself is known as a non-load bearing wall.
 It doesn’t support floor roof loads above.
 It is a framed structure.
 Most of the time, They are interior walls whose purpose is to
divide the structure into rooms.
 They are built lighter.
 One can remove any non-load bearing walls without
endangering the safety of the building.

Simple walls constructed from
bricks.

OTHER CATEGORY OF WALLS

 Cavity Walls
 Partition Walls
CAVITY WALLS

 A cavity wall has two separate walls constructed

with a gap in between the two walls.
 The two leaves of cavity walls can be of equal
thickness if it is non load bearing wall.
CHARACTERISITCS

 The cavity is normally between 5cm to 10cm.

 Cavity walls give good sound property.
 It gives better internal insulation.
 Maintains the inner temperature.
 Prevents transmission of dampness to the inner
walls.
PARTITION WALLS

 Divide the space into parts.

 Non load bearing walls.
 Foldable or fixed

TYPES OF PARTITION WALLS

 Clay or Hollow Brick Partition Walls.
