A Likely Story

Step 1
• As a group, write 3 questions for your classmates.

• Examples:
1. Where are you going tonight?
2. What did you do last Saturday?
3. Who is your favorite classmate?
Step 2
• Create a table with 4 columns, leaving one row for each question and
each classmate’s answers. For example, if you are going to ask 3
classmates, you will need a 4x4 table to record their answers.

Fulanito Fulanita

going tonight?

last Saturday?
3. Who is your
favorite classmate?
Step 3
• Ask your classmates and record their answers. If you suspect they are
lying, you can ask them more questions. Be sure to mark any
suspicious answers and if, ultimately, you think they are telling the
truth.

different answers to every person who asks. You must tell the truth to
one person.

• After asking classmates your questions, reunite with your group.
Compare answers and decide who was lying and who was telling the
truth. Of the people who lied, who was the most convincing liar?

heard (i.e. She said she was going to study English with Fulanito.
Fulanito said he was going to play cards, though.).
Step 5
• Reunite with the classmates who answered your questions. Tell them
about what your group decided (using reported speech) and ask them
to reveal the true answers to your questions.
