• After Dr. Kalam's death, the Indian
Medical Association (IMA) released a
statement saying that public training on
basic resuscitation techniques needs to
be stressed. The IMA has written to the
President and Prime Minister, along with
Law and Health ministries, stressing on
providing education on CPR , installing
Automatic External Defibrillators
(AEDs) in public places and
introducing Good Samaritan laws in
India.
CPR WITH DEFIBRILLATION
It was on a weekend, my son was having a chocolate. All
of a sudden he started choking, as the chocolate got
stuck in his throat and could not breathe for 5 to 6
seconds. He ran to my wife and could not speak as he
was striving to breathe. Immediately as our normal
practice, my wife tapped on his head to get the chocolate
out but it didn’t work out. Then I immediately
remembered the First aid safety training given in our
organization, as the trainer showed how to react in such
critical emergency situations, particularly for small kids. I
followed the same procedure which he taught and the
chocolate came out.
If I would not have known the immediate first aid
safety tips, it would have been difficult to save the
kid.

Thanks
Marshall

Clasification is based on three items

• Breathing/Respiratory
• Pulse/Perfusion
• Mental status evaluation
Triage Systems & Tags:

• the most common classification uses the

internationally accepted four color code
system.

• Red indicates high priority treatment or transfer, e.g.

Massive Hemorrhage, Tension Pneumothorax.
• Yellow signals medium priority, e.g. Isolated Simple
Femur fracture.
• Green is used for ambulatory patients, e.g. Isolated
Abrasions, contusions, sprains.
• black for dead or those with minimal chance of survival,
e.g. Massive Head Injuries, 95% coverage with third
degree burns.
