Examination Techniques
1. Listen to the proctor for the general
instructions. As a rule, instructions refer to the
proper use of the examination booklets and
timing of the examination. Don’t start until
the signal and must stop answering at a
signal.

2. So soon as the signal is given, read the
instructions to each question booklet,
underline any keywords or phrases such as
except, least, best, and the like so that you
can select the BEST CHOICE.

3. Since the examination is of the multiple
choice type, it is advisable to start answering
each question in turn. There may be 200 items
each for General Education and Professional
Education in the hours allotted. Time your
answers. Allot your time properly. Do not spend
too much time on any single question or group
of questions.

4. Skip any questions which seems too
difficult (but place a marker of your choice);
return to it after all other questions have
been answered.

5. Don’t take too long in answering any
single question stated earlier. Note and
underline keywords… all, most, fewest, least,
best, worst, same, opposite.

6. Pay particular attention to negatives.

7. Note unusual options, e.g. unduly wrong,


short, complex, different or similar to the
body of question.

8. Do not second guess unless you have
good reason to believe the second answer
is definitely more correct.

9. If you change your mind, ERASE very well.


Blacken your final answer very well.
