Methods • Observational cohort study, over 11 years, total 2766 patients

Result • Mortality rates similar between both groups

• Diabetic and non diabetic patients have similar in-hospital mortality rates
Conclusion • Survival rates of diabetic patietns deteriorate 3 years after surgery
• Mortality higher when treatment includes insulin
