 Socio-economic Development
- is the relationship between economic
activity and social life.
- activities involving both social and
economic factors which result in the growth
of the economy and societal progress and is
measureable in both economic and social
terms, e.g., growth in the number of jobs
created and increase in life expectancy.
In business, socio-economic aspect
discusses the contribution of the
business to the development of the
society and economy.
It gives answer to the two (2) important questions:
1. What can be the positive contribution of our business
to the customers, community, government and
environment?
2. What program/s can you implement that will benefit
the society?
Social Responsibility of a Business
• Social responsibility is the idea that
businesses should balance profit-making
activities with activities that benefit society.

• It involves developing businesses with a

positive relationship to the society in which
they operate.
What can be the positive contribution of our business
to the customers, community, government and
environment?

Customers
The business will provide some benefits to its
customers.
1.Nutrition
The business will provide nutritious products to our
customers. Our products are heslthy foods that contain
vitamins and minerals.
2. Satisfaction of Needs
Since food is one of the basic necessities of
customers, we will provide this need to them in
quality and affordable prices.
Community
Our community will also benefit on our proposed
business. Our goal is not just to earn profit but also to
share the success of our business to the society.
1. Volunteer works
We will support the community by doing charitable
works like giving donations and participating in
different activities that will benefit the society.
2. Employment
Our business will provide job to the people in the
community. We well hire 6 staffs per stall and will
increase in the future as we expand our business.

3. Increase in the production of crops (taro or

gabi, coconut, banana or onions)
As our product, Goodnight balls demands an
increase supply in its main ingredients which is
taro or gabi, there will have an increased
cultivation of this crop giving chance to our
farmers to earn more.
Government
1. Payment of Taxes
As a responsible business owners, we will pay
taxes to the government that will serve as its funds
to create development projects like construction
roads, bridges, public schools, hospitals, etc.

2. Compliance to the community standards

It is our responsibility to adhere to the existing
laws and regulations of the government where we
do our business.
Environment
We will operate responsibly by doing our business without
harming our environment. We will:
1. Dispose our waste properly.
2. Use the water and electric supply in efficient ways.
3. We will not use equipment / appliances that will harm
the ozone layer.
4. We will paper on the packaging of our product because
it can be recycled.
5. We will adopt the reuse, reduce and recycle of
garbages.
6. We will support different environmental campaigns like
tree planting and cleanliness drive.
Group Activity (20 mins.)
• Students will be grouped into three (3). On a 1/4
illustration board they will draw one scenario that shows
a role of business organizations in the society.

• Content of the output – 4 pts.

• Presentation of output – 2 pts.
