INTRODUCTION

 Energy conservation is the effort made to reduce

the consumption of energy by using less of an
energy source.
 This can be achieved eitheir by using energy
more efficiently or by reducing the amount of
service used.
 Energy conservation is a part of the concept of
ecosufficently.
 Energy conservation reduces the need of energy
services and can result in increased
environmental quality.
Types of Energy Sources

There are mainly two types of energy sources :They

are
Renewable energy source:
source of energy which can be reproduced
after the usage is called as renewable source.
Examples:
Hydro power plant
Wind power plant
Solar power plant
Geothermal power plant
Non-Renewable energy sources:
The source of energy which can’t be produce
after the usage of it is called as non-renewable energy
source.
Examples
Thermal power plant
Nuclear power plant
Biogas power plant
E NERGY CONSERVATION AT HOME :

Lighting
 Switch off lights and fans when not requried.
 Replace blubs with tube lights & CFL (Compact
Fluroscent Blubs).
 Utilize na t ur a l light by using electrical chokes &
regulators.
 Optimize use of light in malls, malls, multiplexes
& hotels.
ELECTRICAL IRON

 Select iron boxes with automatic

temperature cutoff
 Use appropriate regular position for
ironing
 Don’t put more water on clothes while
ironing
 Do not iron wet clothes
REFRIGERATOR

 Don’t open door frequently.

 Set thermostat in medium cooling position

 Don’t overload the refrigerator.

 Make sure your refrigerator door seals are

airtight.
Washing Machine
 Use after 10PM or before 10AM
 Always wash only with full loads

 Use timer facility to save energy

 Use hot water only for dirty clothes

 Prefer natural drying over electical dryers

Mixers
Avoid dry grinding in your food processors as it
takes longer time t h a n liquid drying.
Microwave Oven

 Consumes 50% less energy t h a n

conventional electric/gas stoves.
 Don’t brake large food items.

 Turn off electric stoves several minutes

before the specified cooking time.
Air Conditioning

 Ensure proper sealing of doors and

windows.
 Set thermostat a t 26 degrees for optimum
conditions.
 Clean AC filter every month.

 Prefer air conditioners having automatic

temperature cutoff.
 A roof garden can reduce the load on air
conditioner.
E NERGY CONSERVATION IN COLLEGES :

L IGHTING
 Turn off the lights and fans when not in use.
 Take advantage of daylight by using light-
coloured ,loose-weave curtains on your windows
to allow day light.
Labs
 Turn off the systems when you are not using
them.
E NERGY CONSERVATION IN PUBLIC PLACE :

Lighting
 Switch off lights when a t day times.
 Replace blubs with tube lights & CFL (Compact
Fluroscent Blubs).
 Optimize use of light in malls, malls, multiplexes
& hotels.
Conclusion

 Save energy is a bright idea.

 Save energy save world.

 Finally,
save today survive
tomorrow
