possible. Circuits are driving an unprecedented rate of change
in how we live. In this subject you'll learn about the physics
behind the electronic devices we use.
• It will applicable to all the electrical and electronics circuit
present in the world.
Syllabus
Module 1: Basic circuits analysis
Introduction to circuit variables and circuit elements, Review of Kirchhoff’s Laws, Independent and dependent
Sources, Source transformations Solution methods applied to dc and ac circuits: Mesh and node analysis of
network containing independent and dependent sources
Module 2:Network reduction and network theorems for DC and AC circuits
Superposition theorem, maximum power transfer theorem, reciprocity theorem, Millman’s theorem, substitution
theorem, compensation theorem, Tellegen’s theorem, all theorems using examples of DC & AC networks.

Module 3: Time domain response of RL, RC & RLC circuits:


Time domain response of First order RL, RC, RLC circuits: Mathematical preliminaries – Source free response –
DC response of first & Second order circuits.
Module 4:Transient behavior and initial conditions
Behavior of circuit elements under switching condition and their Representation, evaluation of initial and final
conditions in RL, RC and RLC circuits for AC and DC excitations.

Module 5: Laplace Transform Analysis and Circuit Applications
Notions of Impedance and Admittance, Manipulation of Impedance and Admittance Notions of Transfer Function,
Equivalent circuits for inductors and capacitors Nodal and Loop analysis in the s – domain, Switching in RLC
circuits, Switched capacitor circuits and conservation of charge.

Module 6: Two port parameters


Relationship of two port variables, admittance, impedance, transmission and hybrid parameters, relationship
between two port parameters, Series & Parallel connection of two port networks.

Module 7: Introduction to Network Topology & Graph Theory


Network topology, Network graphs, Trees, Incidence matrix, Tie-et matrix and Cut-set matrix
