WHAT IS HELL? THE REALITY OF
HELL AND THE BROAD WAY
TEXTS: Colossians 3: 1-17, Luke 16: 19-31

the LORD [in His presence] all the days of my life,

Him who sent Me and to completely finish His

DEFINING PRIORITY
Priority means:

• Number-one agenda (Matthew 6:33, John 9:4)

• Overriding pursuit (Psalm 42:1)
• Singular preference (Job 23:12)
• Topmost desire (John 4: 34)
• Overwhelming purpose (Philippians 3:10)
• Primary concern (Psalm 27:4)
• Fundamental objective (Psalm 37:4)
 WHAT IS YOUR PRIORITY IN LIFE?
If HEAVEN is not your first priority, bear in mind
that:
• Time is no longer on your side (John 13:12)
• You will not live forever (Hebrews 9: 27)
• You brought nothing into the world (1 Timothy
6:7)
• Nobody knows his/her appointed time to die
(Ecclessiates 8:7)
• The day of reckoning (2 Corinthians 5:10)
• Every human pursuit shall be destroyed one day
(2 Peter 3:11)
• God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29)
• You have no other choice than to make your bed
in HELL (Psalm 139:8)
WHAT HELL IS NOT

HELL is NOT:
• Funny
• A figment of one’s imagination
• A curse word or a bearable annoyance
• A thought to ignore or reject
• Make-believe or fairy tale
• Made for human beings
• God’s scare tactics
• Life or consequences from one’s actions
• On earth
 WHAT HELL IS
HELL is:
• A real place created by God for Satan
and his angels (Matthew 25:41, 46)
• Located below the earth (Isaiah 14: 9,
Proverbs 15:24)
• Enlarges itself, it is never satisfied
(Isaiah 5: 14)
• A place of unimaginable fear (Matthew
22: 13)
• A place of eternal torment where the
worms do not die and the fires are
never quenched ( Mark 9: 48)
WHAT HELL IS
HELL is:
• A place of everlasting punishment,
where both body and soul are
tormented before final sentence to
the lake of fire (Matthew 25:46; 5:
29-30, Revelation 21:8)
• A place where there is no peace/rest
(Isaiah 48: 22)
• A place of wailing, weeping and
gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13: 42,
50)
 WHAT CAN TAKE BELIEVERS TO HELL?
• Unfaithfulness to God (Deuteronomy 8: 19-20,
Jeremiah 3: 12-14, Ezekiel 14:13, 1 Corinthians 4:2)
• Weights and besetting sins – hidden/secret sins
(Hebrews 12:1, Psalm 19: 12-13)
• Lack of confession and genuine repentance from
sins, iniquities, trespasses and transgression
(Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 32:5)
• Backsliding (Jeremiah 2:19, Hebrews 6: 4-8)
• Disobedience to specific commands (Jonah 1: 2-3)
• Un-crucified life – carnality or works of the flesh (1
Corinthians 6: 10, Galatians 5: 19-21)
• Worldliness (James 4:4, 1 John 2: 15-17)
• Hypocrisy (Isaiah 9:17, Matthew 23:33)

• WHERE IS THE ROAD YOU ARE FOLLOWING
GOING TO LEAD YOU?

• IF THE BOOK OF YOUR LIFE WAS CLOSED

NOW, WHERE WILL YOUR SOUL BE?

• IF THE TRUMPET SOUNDS NOW, WILL YOU

BE CAUGHT UP TO MEET THE LORD IN THE
AIR?
 PRAYER POINTS

1. O God my father, I entreat your

mercy, come what may, do not let me
end my Christian journey in HELL in
Jesus name.
2. My Father and my God, by your
mercy, remove my name from the book
of death and write it in the book of life
in Jesus name.
3. By the mercy and the grace of God, I
will not make my bed in hell in Jesus
name.
