Way of life
The Mesolithic period of transition between the Paleolithic and
Neolithic, approximately 10.000 BC. The first agricultural
activities started in the Middle East; in Europe and in the rest of
Asia were produced later. This period also coincides with the
end of the last glaciation, resulting in a warmer weather and
more favorable for the development of life conditions. Initially,
the activity was based on hunting, gathering and fishing,
therefore, this life was nomadic. Nomadism gradually modified
as the stayed in one place, reinforcing family ties, becoming
sedentary. The sites chosen were generally placed on the banks
of rivers or on the coast. Men began using some techniques for
survival like building shelters, which focused on human groups
of 30 people or so.

COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY

We know that

agriculture was
discovered.
As a team, brainstorm
about the this
discovery.
DEVELOPMENT OF
AGRICULTURE
Archaeological research has allowed us to find very old evidence
of cultivated plants.
The regions with older remains are known as growing fertile and are
in the Middle East, and Mesoamerica, especially in central Mexico.
It is estimated that the cultivation could have started 11000 years
ago.
Agriculture emerged independently in each place.
Agriculture means sedentarization of societies, changes in diet.
People specialize in the cultivation of land.
The population increased

The agricultural activity includes some form of manipulation of the environment and its purpose is
to create an artificial environment in which the human being seeks to control: quantity of
nutrients, humidity, light, temperature, pests and other factors in order to ensure the harvest

WOMEN & AGRICULTURE
"It is generally accepted that, as a derivation of her former function as a collector of plant foods, it
was the woman who invented and developed agriculture" (Di Bernardo, 2009).

The global vision of the universe of the ancient

people, related the female fertility with the
productive potential of the earth.
For pre-Columbian societies (cultures of the
Americas) the land is known as “Pachamama”
The connection woman-fertility of the earth, gave
characteristics of goddess, leading rituals.
