Historical Timeline
📌 1920s- Protonsil (the first sulphonamide) is discovered by
Jose Klarer, Fritz Mietzsch, and Gerhard
Domagk.
📌 1928- Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin.
📌 1931- Penicillin-soaked cloth is used to cure eye and skin
infection.
📌 1939- First antibiotic (tyrothricin) to work in a mouse is
discovered by Rene Dubos.
📌 1941- Penicillin starts to save man from rose bush infection
and Penicillin is mass produced.

resort” drug to treat resistant bacteria.
📌 1997- Link between drug resistant bacteria in animals and in
humans is clearer.

2002-2012- There were many issues about the MRSA bacteria
that caused many deaths among human beings. It was not
enough to kill that certain bacteria.
📌 2014- WHO published its first report on the global status of
antimicrobial resistance.
📌 2015- Teixobactin, a new antibiotic with a promising ability to
avoid resistance was discovered using soil.
