Body language refers to the nonverbal communication conveyed through gestures, postures, and facial expressions. There are several types of body language including eye contact, facial expressions, posture, and hand gestures. Facial expressions are the most noticeable form of nonverbal communication and people often examine each other's faces to gain information. Eye contact helps people feel heard and respected in different cultures. Gestures can add warmth to conversations while postures send messages about confidence levels. Body language is important because people tend to remember visual cues like facial expressions better than exact words.

The gestures, postures, and facial expressions by which a person displays various physical, mental or emotional states and communicates nonverbally with others. Types of Body Language
verbal communication. People always examine each other’s face trying to get some information or meaning out of it. Eye contact An essential tool in non-vebal communication as it makes other person feel heard, respected and important. Eye contact can elevate a person’s status as great conversationalist. In some cultures, looking away is considered as avoidance, where as in some cultures it signifies rudeness. Gestures An art which can add warmth and personality to a conversation. Failing to use the gesture may make the person loose interest in your subject. A lively spreaking style always attracts listener’s attention. For e.g: Hand gestures, nodding, etc. Postures The most common aspect in non- verbal communication as your posture sends numerous messages to others. A comfortable and confident person will stand or sit in relaxed manner and will have fluid smooth movements. Not facing the listener should be avoided as it communicates dishonesty. Posture is always easy to understand. Why is Body Language important?
People remember more of what
they see than what they hear. For example – when you meet someone after a long time, you may not remember the exact words they used, but you may remember a vivid image of the same person’s facial expression. Many a times, what we are trying to deliver to the other person via verbal means of communication might not be exactly similar to the one which we are delivering from which we are delivering via non-verbal means i.e. the body.
