 Brazilians love their fresh fruits and vegetables such as okra, coconuts
corn and beans. Many traditional dishes contain beans, rice or manioc
flour. The most favourite dish in Brazil is probably the feijoada, a bean
stew made with pork and rice.

 Pão de Queijo: delicious cheese bread
 Guarana: drink made with small red berries

Mariachi are the popular musicians who play folk music. They mainly
use string instruments, but also trumpets are sometimes played. The
groups are often invited to play at birthday parties, weddings and
other family celebrations. Famous Mexican are among many others:
the actress Selma Hayek, the guitarist Carlos Santana and the soccer
players Javier Hernandez and Guillermo Ochoa.

cheese, eggs and mayonnaise.
• Choripán - grilled chorizo (a gourmet sausage) wedged inside a
small baguette-style bread. Choripán is often eaten at the
beginning of an asado.
• Empanada - a type of pie/turnover which is commonly filled with
ground beef (mince) or cheese.
• Empanadas Gallegas - Is a fish pie filled with tuna, onions and
bell peppers. Its name comes from the Galician immigrants who
brought this food with them to Uruguay.

• As with neighboring Argentina, most Uruguayans have
ancestors from Spain and Italy who immigrated to the
country in the 19th and 20th centuries. The majority of
the population is Roman Catholic.
• Red meat is widely consumed in Uruguay, more so than
in most other countries. The country's most celebrated
festival is Carnival. The main festivities take place in
Montevideo and include costumes, drumming parades,
and outdoor theater.
