started by the UN called DARPA (Defense Advance

Agency). The agency was headed by J.C.R. Licklider.

organization called World Wide Web Consortium
at Massachusetts Intitute of technology founded and
still headed by Lee and participated in by several
companies who are willing to create standards and
ways to improve the quality of the web. W3C aims
to provide access to the WWW on the principle of
no patent, no royalty due and easily adaptable by
everyone .

through the use of telephone lines. They existed before
