Sindangan Special Education (SPED) Center

is situated inside the campus of Sindangan


Pilot Demonstration School of the town of
Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, about 200
meters away from the National Highway. It was
organized by an OAS-SPED trained principal in UP
Diliman, Mr. Remegio G. Luy last June 2002. This
is the pioneering SPED Center in the division of
Zamboanga del Norte.
• The Center caters children with different
exceptionalities namely; GT Learners, Learning
Disabled, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired,
Mentally Challenged, Children with Autism and
Behavioral Problem and Special Health Problem.
• Presently, the school is managed by the principal
Dr. Miela H. De Gracia with the help of the
Teacher In-charge at the same time teacher of
the Visually Impaired pupils, Mrs. Ma. Umbelina
B. Palma with twenty-one (21) trained and
committed teachers who are all nationally funded
and eight (8) of whom are given SPED teacher
items.
• Under the tutelage of 21 teachers, the Children
with Special Needs (CSNs) are taught in school
with clean and conducive classrooms, with toilets,
light, water and proper ventilation.
• The Center is also very lucky to be a recipient of
the SPED Support Fund and so blessed to have
very supportive parents, LGU and NGO’s who are
so concern of the different programs and projects
of the school by giving their financial assistance as
well as moral support for the benefits and welfare
of the CSNs.

suits to his needs for his full
participation in the
mainstream of the society
without being discriminated.
To provide maximum learning
skills and knowledge as well as the
inculcation of values to every child
with special needs in order to
develop his full potential and to
enable him to become self-reliant
and shall be geared towards
providing him with the
opportunities for a full and happy
life.
To produce well-rounded
individuals that will become
productive members of the
society; to mainstream children
with special needs into the
regular school system and
eventually in the community;
and to address the special needs
of the Filipino children who are
gifted and talented.
To develop and maximize the learning competencies
as well as the inculcation of values to make the learners with
special needs useful and effective member of the society.
• To provide assessment program for the appropriate
placement of children with special needs.

• To develop basic skills, safe working habits, wholesome


personal traits and attitudes that lead them to productive
work.
• To prepare all pupils, regardless of their exceptionalities to
function independently and productively as possible in their
homes, place of work and in the community.

• To prepare all the children with special needs to inclusion.

• To intensify the family and community involvement for


qualitative special education services through SPED
