Maintenance:-
Maintenance is the regular and periodical care of the
machine helping us to work well, safe and longer trouble free life.
Maintenance is not the repairing of machine but it is a process of
PROTECTING A MACHINE SO IT DOESN’T BREAK OR WEAR OUT TOO
QUICKLY.

Objective of Maintenance:-
To reduce failures
To save on operating cost
To prevent accident
To improve working condition by minimising the wear and tear.
To increasing production by maintaining the quality of the
product.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

20-07-2019 CFMTTI, Budni

(i)Fuel system:
 Keep the fuel clean.
 Change the fuel filter periodically as recommended
by
the manufacturer.
 Prevent leaks which waste fuel.
 Always top up the fuel tank after closing of work. Fill
upto the neck to allow some space for expannsion by
heat.

(ii) Air intake and exhaust system:-

Clean the air cleaner and change the oil/cartridge periodically.

Replace the Muffler when it burns so that ear damaging noise
doesn’t develop and free from sparks.

(iii)Electrical System:

Keep starting motor of the engine in working condition.

Check and top the battery with distilled water and maintained
the desired electrolyte density.
Clean battery terminals and use petroleum jelly at the terminals

(vi) Clutch System:
 Check and adjust clutch pedal free play.
Never ride on the clutch pedal.
The pedal should operate when need only.

(Vii) Hydraulic System:

Change the Hydraulic oil and filter periodically as recommended

in the operators manual.
Keep the right amount and right grade of oil in the system.
Use the position, draft control, mixed control and external
circuit lever only for the purposes they are meant for.
The tipping trailer should not interchange.

(viii) Brakes:
Check and adjust the brake pedal free play.
Test brake before you need them by trying to stop.
In case of hydraulic brake keep the right amount of brake oil in
container.

(ix)Tyres:
Check air pressure everyday and inflate to the recommended
pressure.
Maintain the tyre pressure less in field then for the road.
Interchange the front wheel at recommended period.
Check and adjust the toe-in if the one side of front tyre is wearing
more rapidly.

PERIODICAL MAINTENANCE
(IS : 6840- 1972)

20-07-2019 CFMTTI, Budni

(A) At 8 to 10 ENGINE WORKING HOURS
 Clean the tractor and implements.
 Check oil level in a horizontal surface. Top up, if necessary,
when the engine in cold.
 Remove sediments from the air-pre-cleaner bowl. Clean the
oil-bath of the air cleaner if the tractor operated in dusty and
tropical surroundings.
 Top of the fuel tank. If necessary, preferably in the evening
after day’s work to avoid condensation.
 Clean the radiator. Remove dust and dirt accumulated in the
core and top up the cooling system, using clean water.
 Make sure that the tension of the V-belts driving the dynamo
and the fan is in accordance with the manufacture’s
recommendations.
 Check the tightness of the fuel, oil and water pipes and hoses,
cleaners, fillers and drain plugs to avoid leakage.
20-07-2019 CFMTTI, Budni
Make sure that the inflation of the front and rear tyres is in accordance with
the manufacture’s recommendations.
Check the electrical units. Make sure that the ends of the cables are properly
connected to the terminals.
Check the lever and specific gravity of the electrolyte in the storage battery.
Lubricate the tractor in accordance with manufacture’s recommendations
Lubricate the front wheel hub bearing after puddlings operations.
 Check all joint of the steering linkage. Make sure that the bolts and screws of
the front axle, wheel hubs, discs and wheel weight are tight.
 Check all the fastening bolts and screws and make sure that they are tight.
Start the engine and ensure that:
1.The engine runs smoothly without knocking and abnormal noise.
2.The oil pressure gauge is registering sufficient pressure.
3.The warning lights, if provided are functioning properly.
4.The dynamo is generating proper current and
5.The voltage regulator is functioning properly.
Engage the hydraulic lift and check the movement of the lifting arms and
three-point linkage.
