Julie : Good morning sister
Linda : Oh morning julie
Julie : You said you would test me on hipodermic injection today
Linda : Oh, yes.Come in and lets see what do you know about it.
Now If I ask you to give an insulin injection,what would you
need on your tray?
Julie : Well,I have to prepare the equipment, they are syringe of 1or 2
mililiter needle of seventeen or twenty size and alkohol swab.
Linda : And where would you get them from?
Julie : Pharmacy
Linda : Now show me how you would administer the drug.
Julie : First of all,I’d check the dossage,and then I’d like to
check the cylinder for air,then I’d clean the injection site
on upper arm with alcohol swab.

Linda : And then?

Julie : I Would get grasp one inch of skin and fatty tissue
between my thumb and finger and I’d insert the needle
into the skin at a 45 degree angle quickly,like this then I
pull back the plunger to see if the needle of syringe for
blood return.

Linda : What will you do if blood return?

Julie : If blood returns.I’d withdraw the needle from the skin,
apply pressure to the site for about 2 minutes,
prepare new medication and begin proscedure again.
Linda : Good,I hope you can do your job well.
